hey guys, i've been trying to figure this problem out for weeks now. i've searched all previous topics, but none are similar to mine. First theres pinging from my motor and cant get rid of it. Checked timing, ecu, fuel, distributor, but cant find the problem. Would anyone know what to check next? Then, when my car goes into vtec, it doesnt make much power (compared to how much it made before). One day it just happened and i didnt touch a thing on my motor. Car is bone stock, with just an upgraded fuel pump. Anyone know what make be the problem? Distributor maybe? PLEASE if anyone knows or has an idea of what the problem might be, let me know...thanks.

 

how many miles are on your motor and when is the last time you had a valve adjustment? maybe i'm just getting "pinging" and ticking mixed up.

 

why do you have an upgraded fuel pump on a stock motor?

 

I know this sounds simple, but try resetting your ECU. If you had a bad tank of gas and pinged like crazy, the knock sensor could have retarded timing wayyy back.

Could also be a bad O2.
