Default Stolen Parts or NOT???

Okay, I'm planning on buying a lot of new parts for my car, and was wondering how I'd find out if any of them are stolen or not. A lot of them don't have VINs, ie Rims, exhaust, gauge cluster, and the guy seems legit, but how do I release my liability for accepting stolen goods w/o knowing? Also, on engines, are there internal vins I can check if maybe he restamped the block? Tell me what you guys know, because I don't feel like spending a lot of money and finding out I purchased someone else's parts and end up with a fine or something worse.

Thanks!

first for rims and little stuff, there is really no way to tell at all u just have to take their word, as for the engine its simple, if the vin is scratched off thats one sign or if its "scraped" a little, now jdm engines dont have vins so ill let someone elts help u with that one
