HELP!!! headlights went screwy
Well, long story short. I can not turn on my headlights without the cluster lights/running lights/park lamps etc. turning off. It happened out of the blue one day (about 3 weeks after the HID kit) . I checked all my connections. Only thing i diden't check/replace is the relay's, and column switch.. Anyone have any idea what's going on?
Click to turn on the park lamps, as soon as i click to headlights, every light, inside and out shut off, but the headlights stay on. (highbeams turn on if selected)
- Helio's HID kit (approx 40 hours of use)
- Hella fog lights (run on own power source and switch)
um.... Help?

hm. did you wire your hid's up to any existing grounds?
it's gotta be something shorted where you spliced the power for the hid's. i doubt anything in the column is giving you problems like that.

if you turn the headlights back off, do the rest of the lights come back?
if so, then it could very well be a short.
meter the red with black stripe wire, and see what happens when you flip the headlights on. if you lose 12 volt there, then thats your problem. if not, check whats going on with the grounds.
you blow any fuses when this happens?

I'll go though it again with the meter, the HID kit was straight forward, positive (red), negetive (black) and it worked fine for 3 weeks...... I'm scared to turn them on now.. I finally got them both to turn on, so i drove around as is, i look down, and there's smoke pouring out from my steering column!! around the signal light/wiper switch, hazzard switch, i shut everything down, and managed to save it...now the switch is all stiff when i wanna turn on my park lamps. (still not turning on all lights at same time
.) where are the relays located?
