Default Water Pump leaking... Again.

1994 Civic EX D16Z6

Early in March my Water Pump was leaking so bad that I just kept some 50/50 Anti-Freeze/Water in my car, and fill up the radiator every day.

So the March 6th Auto Cross was quickly approaching, and I wasn't going to run the car like that, and seeming as I didn't have the time to do it that week, I put it in a reputable shop, and had them do the maintenance... I typically do my own work, but it was March 3rd, and I was in a pinch.

Everything has been great up until the past two days... I noticed the puddles on the driveway again

Could the Water Pump seals have gone bad in that short amount of time? I haven't done that many Race Events lately... 3 Auto Cross Events once a month, and 1 run down the Drag Strip.

Is this normal? Or do I need to go down to the shop and have a word?

Thanks in advance,

I replaced mine at 90k when I did the timing belt. You don't need anyone to back you up to know that what happened to you isn't normal o_O

Are you sure its the water pump, and maybe not a loose hose/clamp? Or even a hole in a coolant hose for that matter, or a coolant neck thats leaking?

Well when I got up under it, and in the engine bay, I couldn't find anything that would promote a loose hose, or any coolant line broken.

And last time that happened... It turned out to be my Water Pump seal

I'm probably going to get it up on some jack stands tomarrow and have a closer look. But damn it just doesn't seem right, it's been less than 3,000miles

Anyone else have any ideas here?

who knows what hondabond is..

it is however possible that your pump is fucked again.. your hg could be blown causing a very high pressure in your coolant lines.. (i think its normally like 5 or 10psi).. so when your hg goes usually ur leaking pressure into the coolant.. so something thats designed for 10psi or so thats getting lets say 50 isnt gonna hold out very long

when my hg went my rad split, and my pump went..

Hondabond is just a high-temp RTV silicone sealant sold with a Honda name on it.

Yeah, is there a relief hole on Honda pumps like on some other cars? I had the pump go in my old Sunfire once, and there was a relief hole where all the water leaked out when the pump died.
