Default dashlight brightness control unit

how likely is it for the control unit to cause my cluster to not to light up, does anyone know how test it. also i cant seem to find it. i believe for the 90-91 it's not in the dimmer like the 88-89. i searched and couldn't find much. i tried a few things before thinking it might be the control unit (i.e switching cluster, checking fuses, dimmer trick) any help would be

when my old ej got jacked they took the dimmer switch....when i got it back the cluster never lit up....i dont know much about electrical yet but i know that the signal must go through the dimmer switch before it goes to the cluster and dash...if the dimmer has gone bad you can either just replace it or bypass it

i tried to by pass it and doesn't work, that's why im thinking it's the control unit instead of the dimmer. the horizontal dimmers do not have the control unit inside, there's another unit (dashlight brightness control unit )

what year is your cluster? 88-89 is different from 90-91.

i went from 88-89 to 90-91 and had a problem with the wiring. if you have a 88-89, check out my last post here, https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=318615 (the cheese ball way to override it). hope that helps a bit.
