Attn: Painters and Strippers....
To anyone who has experience in painting cars:
1. I've done a search without any useful info.
2. I need to repaint my oem 97 Integra bumper.
3. What is the safest and most effective way to remove the paint from the plastic without damaging the plastic?
4. I assume a primer would need to go on first, then a base coat, and finally at least one application of a clearcoat.
5. I have access to an air compressor.
6. Where is a good place to order the above paint/primer online?
Thanks!

dont get the aircraft stripper.. it will kill the plastic aka your bumper.. try and find the one that is made to strip paint but doesnt harm the abs plastic
why not just sand it off?
i wouldnt say that i have alot of painting experiance, but in my highschool autobody class i painted my friends front bumper, 2 doors of a car, and an entire motorcycle.
why are you repainting it? scraches in the paint? paint cracking/peeling?
if your just repainting it, and there is no dammage that needs to be repaired then just sand the entire thing with 320 grit making sure that ALL of the clear coat is gone and youve sanded a good amount of the paint. then hit the entire thing with 600 grit and spray the paint. you dont need to primer it if your just repainting it the same color and you didnt do any body work.

LOL. Yes I guess the "strippers" part was a little misleading.
Well the bumper is pretty beat up-scratches and one parking lot incodent has taken its toll.
After sanding down the bumper can I just throw a basecoat on it and then a layer of clearcoat?
Also, after looking on the PPG site, they list 3 different applications for the color I specified. I'm not sure which I should get.
any ideas?
Thanks!
