2 nights in a row of 3 hour long "NASCAR Classics" on Speedchannel/vision??
Last night there was nothing on Speedvision from 8-11, except NASCAR. Same with tonight. Good thing tonight I'm goin out for beers, last night I wasnt so lucky. Is it me, or is NASCAR taking over like they promised it wouldnt??
monday is the 11th, and that is the day that they are changing over to the "speed channel." is this the end of great motorsports television? are we doomed to endless yokel-round track nascar?
Oh my gosh...D:ck Trickle really does exist!!! HARHAR-HAR!!

it was on for a few hours yesterday also. i finally get speedvision and they change to this crap. its bad enough that i live in al, but taking over sv just isnt cool
Yea, I never understood the whole "classic nascar" thing when I saw it coming on another channel. Now, it looks like it's taking over speedvision. It seems that the only time the things I want to watch come on are when I'm either 1) watching something else 2) out of the house 3) asleep.
The channel is about 5% stuff that interests me and I get to see about 5% of that. Good thing I'm not paying for it.

the worst thing is that Fox, which bought Speedvision and turned it into NASCAR-Vision, is thinking of taking over Kirch, which owns the rights to broadcast F1...
Speed Channel set to launch 'NASCAR TV'
February 6, 2002
10:47 PM EST (0347 GMT)
Speedvision, the first and only 24-hour cable network devoted exclusively to the excitement and heart-pumping action of motorsports, and NASCAR today announced the launch of "NASCAR TV," the first channel-within-a-channel devoted to a single sport. NASCAR TV is scheduled to premiere on Monday, Feb. 11, when the cable network now known as Speedvision officially re-launches as SPEED Channel.
NASCAR TV features complete "behind-the-scenes" access to NASCAR, enhanced race replays and highlights and qualifying for NASCAR Winston Cup and Busch Series events. Also included in the exclusive block are classic and historical races, original news and lifestyle programs, season previews and reviews, special event coverage, talk shows, FSN's TOTALLY NASCAR, NASCAR VICTORY LANE and NASCAR TECH, and coverage of the NASCAR Touring and NASCAR Weekly Racing Series.
Available in 45 million homes, NASCAR TV on SPEED Channel provides NASCAR fans with an unprecedented, dedicated block of NASCAR-related programming. NASCAR TV augments the hundreds of hours of NASCAR Winston Cup and NASCAR Busch Series racing and related programs already slated for telecast on FOX, FX, Fox Sports Net and NBC/TNT. Come February, NASCAR TV airs between 3:00 PM and Midnight ET on weekday afternoons and evenings.
Saw this in the latest GRM. Thought it was a series of typos, bad journalism, or Fox's very bad judgement. At least, they're wouldn't be any more boat shows.
NASCAR 3pm to midnight? And boat shows to boot? WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm thinking I could sell a lot of "NASCAR sucks. Fox sucks. Speedvision lives." shirts. Or maybe just "Speedvision lives!"
In any event, I'm sending Sumner Redstone a FedEx box full of cat litter.

Speedvision going to SpeedChannel sucks for us.
Remember that marketing money is king these days, and NASCAR fans support NASCAR brands, if we like it or not. So many import owners are keeping APC (fine qualikty makers of Altezza style taillights) in business that real brands arent interested in sponsoring smaller series. Can you imagine the Tide Accord, or the Downey S2000, how about the Nabisco Sentra?
You think Fox gives a damn about NASCAR? hell no, they care about money.

I almost want to see Fox take it on the chin and lose their collective butts on this, but that would be worse, discouraging motorsport related programming even further....
Still, until Speedvision comes back, I am not renewing my cable subscription, because there is nothing worth watching right now...

Everyone is complaining about the boat shows? I would rather have 24hours of boating than NASCAR! At least the race boats turn left and right.

I cant see how that would be though, they'd be morons for doing something like that.
The problem is that NASCAR is a big commodity. It sells more product than all other motorsports combined. SPEED channel is probably going to do better ratings-wise than SpeedVision. It sucks for those of us that actually care about racin' instead of rubbin'. But we better get used to it.
I, for one am just happy that they are still going to have F1, GrandAm Endurance, WRC, and some touring car stuff. They could have made it the 24 x 7 Bubba network. I know that my VCR is going to get quite a workout now that NASCAR will take up prime time and good racing will be on at weird hours.

Alan

I'm going to give it some time to see how the coverage shakes out. I expect an a$$load of NASCRAP this week due to the Daytona 500. If the time slots previously filled with "Automotive Product" are filled with CRAPCAR stuff, fine by me I wans't watching anyway. But if they move all the touring car, F1, rally, Trans-Am stuff to 3 am, I'm calling Dish Network and cancelling the hell out of it.
I've already noticed the mid-afternoon stuff (see, I have not job!) that used to be German touring car, BTCC, Valvoline runoffs, is suddenlt occupied by Car&Track, Circle Track, NASCAR Legends, etc. Not a good sign.

Without fail this weekend, *every* time I turned on The Channel Formerly Known as Speedvision, it was some kind of NASSCAR nonsense. Usually some bunch of old rednecks blathering on about some old race.

The $130 bill is a bit much. The 2 seperate computers don't help the bill.

... is your friend. Extra computer? What extra computer??
Have you guys seen that commercial where the NASCAR guy takes this other guy home and the other guy is waving to all his friends on the street and giving the NASCAR guy directions as they drive? The first instruction he gives to the NASCAR guy is to "turn left here," at which point I started laughing so hard that I didn't get to see the rest of the commercial. I was just thinking...man...good thing he told him to go left...I don't know if he could turn the other way.
Well, since Fox bought Speedvision out, we might get to see quality shows like: "When NASCAR Goes BAD!" or "When left turning goes bad part III"

I'm sorta of struggleing to see the problem. Today after 2 hours of rolex 24 hours of daytona, I watched more wrc highlights. It's not that bad
what do you all realisticaly want. cartoon can't well run gundam wing and samuari jack 24-7, and speedwhatever can't be all F1, WRC, ALMS and of course my fav, australian V8 supercars. All the busch drinkin' skoal chewin' inbreedin' nascar fans would be crying about how speedwhatever became the rice burner network, as a guy I work with so elequently put it. I really don't think were any worse off.
