i cam across a guy on ebay who had this for sale a ZC SOHC VTEC http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...47099
i email him and said that you must had made an error cause there was never a zc vtec and less a sohc but he insisted that it was real and it was produced in japan delsol 92-95. i still did not believe him cause i never heard of that engine. i did a search and found it on an engine import site here are the specs prety good if you ask me for a single cam motor that has to be the fastes single cam motor nice specs

they also have the comon one we all know D15B so it can't be a mistake. judging by the specs it look like it a D15B or D16Z6 head slapped on a zc block or a D1B5 block with zc pistons.what you guys think?

 

I thought the zc was an obd0 engine DOHC no vtec.

 

i know the sohc Vtec del sol si came with the d16z6. I don't beleive that ebay item is correct. As the dohc ZC (non-vtec 1.6) has 140, but i have not seen that motor described in the ebay post. But the pic looks like a d16z6 or d15 motor.

 

I believe the zc 1.6 vtec is the JDM version of the d16z6, someone correct me if I am wrong

Never heard of that one, but i do know there is 2 ZC motors. A single cam non Vtec that only puts out 120hp and a dohc non Vtec that puts out 130hp, you might be right on this one he might have mated the d15b head to the sohc zc block, and it would make a couple extra horses because the d15b uses a vx 1.5 bottom end lil bit lower compression than 1.6 and naturally less torque but due soley to the head it gets more hp and torque than the usdm 1.6 Vtec, so mini-me d15b head to a 1.6zc bottom end=jdm ZC Vtec i guess

 

I have seen those engines on eBay from time to time... I always just assumed that it was an error of some sort...

 

There is a SOHC Vtec ZC, identical to the D16Z6. And no that is not a OBD0 sohc ZC with a vtec head. Im looking into buying a sohc vtec ZC engine, I see different horsepower outputs out this engine. I want to get a positive answer wheter this engine pumps 130 or 140? Also is it only a myth about it having the D15B cam?

 

There is the brown top DOHC OBD0 ZC, a Black Top OBD0 DOHC ZC, a SOHC OBD0 ZC (same as D16A6), and OBD1 Black Top DOHC ZC, and a SOHC VTEC ZC (same asZ6).

 

i have the zc sohc vtec i replace it with my d16z6......the zc vtec has a black valve cover thats says vtec......everytime i work on my car i just order parts for the d16z6 and part fits without a hitch....

 

I have a zc 1.6 vtec single cam on my civic so it does exist

i always wonder why the ZC did not have a normal engine code like all other honda engines... weird. Besides that i cannot fathom a d series sohc engine pumping out 140 from the factory... from what i have read the zc sohc vtec engine has 130
