how do u know if u spun a bearing

Default how do u know if u spun a bearing

ok i just got a engine rebulid and it makes like a high pitch rattle or squel BUt its not a belt its coming from inside the block or headbut the head is still stock so i think its a bearing what are some signs of a spun bearing like sounds performance loss any thing thaks

ok because its scaring the **** out of me i just threw like 3k into it and now its making sounds its scarywhat do u think the sound can be then?

No if you spin a bearing, you will hear the rod slapping. You will definatly know the sound. Check your timing belt, it may be too tight or rubbing on something.

but its off and on mostly when i start the car up it will come and go its radom but uselly when i start the car up it will do it

did u replace the throwout bearing with a new one inside the tranny and pilot bearing?

The sound you're describing sounds like a bad Throw Out Bearing (Like slotec stated)

The Throw Out Bearing has gone bad in my Z6, causing a horrible tapping sound. Do this, press in your clutch, if the noise stops, or gets less audible... It's more than likely your throw out bearing.

Here is a video sample of what mine sounds like from under the car.

Short clip with me under the car about a foot or so away from the Bell Housing. Activating the clutch by hand.

Another short clip with me sitting in the drivers seat

They're night shots, but if you can deffinately hear the difference... Just crank the volume up a bit

Bad mainshaft and countershaft bearings inside the tranny can also sound like this too.

i say its most likely your tranny making the noise or could be really anything i guess pop the hood and see where u know u definately hear it
