unlocking steering
Take a flathead screwdriver or something similar, and push it firmly into the top part of the steering column between the wheel and the column, and push the locking pin away from the steering wheel. You won't break the pin, but be careful, or you'll crack the steering column if you accidently slip and hit it or something.
No, I didn't learn this from stealing cars or something like that, I got it from one of those "Worst Case Scenario" books, it explained how to hotwire a car, and breaking lose the steering wheel is part of the process.

if you got a blown cylinder, you can still turn it in the "on'" position, and it will still unlock.
