I hate the Azenis is now a thing of the past so I'm out shoppung for new tires. I put a set of 712's on the wife's Civic & they seem to do OK. Some input would be apprciated. Thanks!
Sorry to be off topic but if a mod or admin can help me I would appreciate it. My SN is brolli007 without the 2. I forgot my password and tried to reset it but while the sit esays the password will be e-mailed to me, I never get it. Please help. I want my old SN with many posts... I don't want to be a noob again. Thanks! E-mail me at mberk007@bellatlantic.net
i have some on the R. i rarely drive it hard enough for the tires to squeal. they are fine IMO, pretty decent price, i cant really comment on the wear because i drive the R like once a week or so.
a lot of people use the 712s on lots of different cars because the price. the ES100s are good also. for me it pretty much comes down to which of the 2 is cheaper.

Still rolling on them since came with the wheel package.
No fan on Korean tires but not as bad as I would thought.
Handle decent but do screech at limit. I only drive once a week or so in the summer
and no winter so they last forever!
i have them, good tire but uder hard cornering they squeal like a son off a bitch. i like my azenis better but that dam hum sure sucks. you must rorate the tires every so often i id`nt and my front two are bald. toyos ts 1 will be my next purchase, and do shop around i found the 712 to have many diffrent prices. check tiretrends.com for deals they are based out off vancouver great service and you have the US dollar advantage. i do believe free shipping

Decent inexpensive street tire. Sidewalls nowhere near as stiff as 215's. Good in rain when full tread depth. Squeal like stuck pigs kinda early near and all the way through their cornering limits.
they are decent for daily driving. but if you are going to drive hard they suck. they feel like they want to break loose and slide all the time. i dont like them for corners.

Pretty much. Better than RE010's in the rain, awful in the snow.

These tires are "budget performance", "bang for the buck" tires, tires that have okay performance and a low price.
Tire Rack did a side-by-side comparison test of the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 against the similarly-priced Yokohama AVS ES100, and evaluated both tires for 23 different characteristics. The ES100 beat the 712 in 23 out of 23 characteristics. And the ES100 lasts a long, long time. So the choice between those two tires is a no-brainer; get the ES100.
Tire Rack also tested a couple of other "bang for the buck" tires that did well - the Fuzion ZRi and the Avon Tech M500. Both are also worth considering (but no word on how long they might last).

I've had them on my oem wheels for about 2 months and 4k miles now (205 50 15). They are soft and make very little road noise thus far. I haven't pushed them whereas I have track/Auto X wheels with Azenis on them.
2 things for sure, they are great daily driver tires and they are no where near as sure footed as the Azenis.

I had those before getting my current Azenis. Ill never roll on the 712's again. I couldnt stand that tire. I had 205/50 on stock wheels. Turn in felt pretty good (nice and responsive) but grip was lacking and the more they wore, the more slippery they got. Dont try to drive them in the snow, and dont track them on a really cold day bc they dont heat up at all and slide all over the place.
I put a set of 712s on my stock ITR a couple of years ago. They're noisy as hell, they don't provide great grip, and I don't think it's a great wet tire. They are cheap!
I have used them at Watkins Glenn in the rain/drying track. They were better than R compounds in the pouring rain (obviously). And in a drying track they provided ridiculous feedback when approaching the max limits (howling tires) and they allowed me to get some absurd, yet very controllable slip angles.
Bottom line: I wouldn't buy them again.

OK let me clarify a few things. I should have explained myself better @ first. I don't autocross or drive real aggressive 90% of the time. I frequent the local strip & really like the grip & handling of the 215's. I'm willing to spend good $$ for good rubber & don't have to take the cheaper way out. Oh, one other thing..... I have a JRSC w/ 8 lbs. of boost & Hondata. Even w/ the 215's I'm running on now w/ 10% of the tread left, I can boil the tires @ will in first & some of second gear. So what I'm saying is on the street I need tracion as best as posible. Thanks.
if you are roasting the Azenis now then I wouldnt expect to have much traction at all with the 712s. they are a cheap street tire that I would not use again for any sort of competition or spirited driving. and once they start to wear, rain driving is very sketchy.

I agree. Budget tires like the 712 and the ES100 provide good value, but they don't grip as well as the Azenis or top-of-the-line tires (e.g. Bridgestone S-03) or R compound track tires. That's why they're good at "bang for the buck", rather than sheer performance.
It sounds like you like the grip that the Azenis ST-215 offers, and that's really your biggest priority. In that case, I would suggest you get their replacement, the Azenis ST-615. One of the areas they improved on is their ability to handle heat. Or, you might even consider getting R compounds (e.g. Toyo RA-1, Hankook Z211, Yokohama A032R or A048), if you don't mind their relatively rapid wear.
