Keyed ITR
Just walked outside to my car today and found someone had keyed the right side of my car from front to back. Passenger side door and the right rear quarter panel have long key marks down to the bare metal in some parts. Worst thing about it is it could have happened in the last 2 or 3 days, so I'm not sure where it happened. Does anyone know roughly how much a repaint would cost? Is there any way to just repair the damage to the keyed part without having to repaint all of both panels?

Sorry to hear this! I'm always paranoid myself. Don't think you can just fix the marks, but I'm not 100% sure. If you need some to fix it, check out Kenny Hawkins Automotive (919.851.0242) in Raleigh. Ken does a lot of track events in his Viper and is a nice guy. His shop does mostly high-end Euro & Classic stuff, but I know he has worked on an ITR that hit a tree.
We should meet up somtime since we're so close(I'm in Raleigh). Shoot me an IM.

I've seen a Yellow ITR keyed as well, at the Acura display, from front to back at the NY auto show at the Jacob Javits Center.....now that's sick

We really need to import the "flame-thrower" to protect our cars.
Sigh.......what do you guys think of the mostly likely group of haters that will key people's car?

All sorts of losers go there.....2 years ago there was a stabbing at the BMW display cuz of two men arguing over a woman...maybe one guy looked at the woman in the wrong way and the other guy didnt like it, so what do ya know? knife fight.....one guy goes to the hospital...
Got an estimate from the body shop. Roughly $650 bucks for stripping and repainting both panels. My deductible is $250, and it won't affect my premiums if I make a claim. One question though, is it legal to make a claim and get a check and then not go ahead with the repairs? I hear about people doing this all the time, and I'm not sure I wanna drop $250 bucks to repair a scratch that might happen again the next day.
