I am wiring an aftermarket tach on my 98 ek hatch as we speak ...... but i have a few questions....can i wire the tach illumination wire directly to my dimmer? if so, which wire= there is a black ground wire and two red wires: one solid red wire and one red wire with a black stripe....so which one do i tap into?.....also, can i splice the power wire into my power wire for my cd head unit or is this not good to do?.....thanks

wouldn't it b easier to just plug the tach wires into the fuse box under the dash, thats what i did n e way,

 

The solid red one for the tach illumination, it'll also let you dim your tach with the whole instrument cluster. Worked for my indiglo gauges. about tapping into the power from your cd head unit I have no clue, I wouldn't though.

 

Ok there are 4 wires...

Red-Power
Black-Ground
Green -Goes to the blue wire on the dizzy
White-Lights
