new shocks \ springs - stock ride height
Hello,
I have a 99 1.6 EL, and my rear springs are definately toast, and my fronts are pretty old too, im pretty sure these are the stock ones that came with the car. I'm not sure about the shocks, but I may end up replacing them anyway.
for now, I was wondering, is there a progressive spring I can replace the stock ones with that will ride at the same height? lowering my car wont be practical for me, reason being is that I am moving up to northern ontario, and the snow can be pretty brutal in the winter time, also I hear the roads are pretty bad up there too. I would like to stay away from coilovers since I dont plan on ever lowering this car (im gonna sell it to buy a truck once I have the money anyway)
Also, is there a decent set of shocks that will improve handling at stock height as well, or will any set of upgraded shocks work at any height? if so, I hear the koni reds are a decent upgrade

what do u mean by springs being toast? i think it's more of ur shocks than ur springs unless your spring literally broke into atleast 2 pieces.
coilovers + umm kyb agx's would work good for you.

perhaps im wrong about the springs, my rear end is sagging, i assumed it was the springs.
thanks for the info, i will check out the kyb agx shocks.

Maybe try H&R OE Sports (.75 in - barely noticeable) with some KYB Gr-2 shocks, Tokico Blue shocks, or some Koni Red (special) shocks.
