Matt, check your email!
I spoke with Clayton at King and I believe he is going to do the marathon weekend as well. I may try to join you and the others for the Western MI meet. We'll see how the car is at that point!

Shoulder WHAT? What happened to you?
I have TOTALLY been waiting for this to happen... it's 5 miles from my dad's house, 50 miles from me. YAY!!!
Chris, really really in a hurry to finish this mini-project...
Chris, really interested to take a banked turn fast... and at the same time NOT so interested

How hard ARE those walls?
My dad did some roundy-round school down near Disney, he'll have to give me some pointers. I'm pretty sure I'll be braking for the banked part, anyone here driven this yet (With PCA last year, or ???)

The turns have very little banking, about 5 degrees. I was very concerned about the walls when I attended a practice day there a few weeks ago, but once I drove the track, I realized that the oval is not all that scary and is a very fun portion of the track.
Turn 10 requires moderate braking before the turn and then progressive acceleration out of the turn onto the front straight. You would have to really be "hot-*******" to put your car into the wall on the oval. Otherwise, turn 1 is a 180 degree turn that is very low speed. Basically, it's a throw-away turn. There is more speed through turns 2 and 3. The exit onto the oval, turn 8, is also relatively slow.
No matter how you look at it, every race track has an element of danger. Every track has at least a couple of spots that you don't want to mess up. Overall grip is good, especially on the oval and the slight banking makes for very good stability.

How's that power steering working out for you?

Wheee...
Sounds like my Dad is down, and if I get all the parTs to the car next week, I should be ready to go too!
If not I can always get another rental.

I'm toying with the idea of having a BBQ for the Honda-Tech crowd if they show up.
We have a Festiva to take care of and I need help.

Good luck getting him up here -- there seems to be some sort of force field blocking him from crossing into Wisconsin state lines.

Well I can't offer much more than a free ride, free beer, and free food... plus he gets to see his WI boyfriend.

At any rate I'm sure that Brian and the whole SpeedTrialUSA gang is going to put on a great event.

I'll go...whether I'll drive this event or not, I don't know though. Now that my laptop fried, I need to allocate funds that way.
