SOHC ZC versas D16A6 Differences?
Would anyone know what the differences are between these two engines? The D16A6 is rated at 108hp and the ZC is 115 (120ps). The bore & stroke & CR are the same. I believe it may be in the ECU only. Would anyone here know?
is everything else pretty much identical? i just purchased a zc cam and the lobes didn't look any bigger.. they actually looked smaller but i don't have the tools to take accurate measurements. It also has a weird lobe at the distributor end. wonder if that would throw off the balance of the valvetrain.
that extra lobe is for the mechanical fuel pump. youve got a cam from a carburated SOHC ZC. all together worth 105ps. its NOT the same as the MPFI SOHC ZC cam. the exhaust timing is a bit off. you really wouldnt be able to tell visually. you need a dial indicator to see the difference.
(whats with all these sohc ZC threads lately? a big container of junkyard SOHC engines come off the boat last month or something?)

I purchased a ZC motor from hmotors and it came carb'd so I have the same cam. I switched to fuel injection and my zc will pull on other d16s w/the same mods.
so you started with a carb'd zc? sweet.. so i can use this cam

i am not sure if the carb'd cam will go in a d16a6. but my zc seems to pull pretty good w/ the PM6 and a little more fuel pressure. I do have the DOHC ZC tranny as well but before my old tranny died it would still pull on other d16's.
hopefully it works out alright. I put the cam in last night while i still had the motor on the stand. It seems as though the lobes are a little bigger because i had to loosen the valve adjustment a little to get them into spec.
theres about a .002"-.003" variance from the A6 cam, but not much. youd have to do a valve adjustment when switching cams anyway. btw, did you consider that the exhaust timing is 5 degrees off the A6 cam when adjusting your valves?

no i did not.. hrmm.. so i should adjust the INTAKE side at TDC and then the EXHAUST side at + or - how many degrees?
