Default B series swap, exhaust questions

Hey everyone,
I have an LS swap in my EF hatch with aftermarket header. Will an exhaust made for this car bolt right up with swap? What cat should I use, will a GSR cat work? I currently have a makeshift one "welded" into the system, but it leaks bad, and I want to replace it withs omething new.

Somebody help a brotha out

I'm about so fed up with my crappy exhaust with all the holes in it that I'm gonna drive open header for awhile

Everyone always tells me, "Your car sounds like a lawnmower" Can't tell them I've got some beast LS motor when it sounds even more terrible than an auto d15 with some bs n1 exhaust.

Nothing will bolt up without a reasonable amount of modifying. Just take it to a muffler shop and talk to them.

This is going to sound funny, but look for a shop run by a bunch of old guys that do muscle cars. Trust me on this!!

Have a written list of notes that has items like where you want flanges installed (so that you can take it apart if required). Know what type flanges you want. In other words, do you want the Honda style donut flanges or are standard 2 or 3 bolt flanges ok.

any catback should work prolly have to mod where it connects to the header.

I would think that it might be easier to just make an extension that fits between the back of the cat and the catback. For my B18C swap I had a 94-99 DC header which was too short, a 95 GSR cat which was 18" long and my Invidia catback. I drove it to a muffler shop and told them to weld me up a piece of pipe with some flanges that would fill in the 3" gap in my exhaust system. I would not recommend modding the actual exhaust system. Because if you ever decide to sell who would want to buy it then? IMO your should leave the catback the way it is, especially if it is an aftermarket exhaust...this will help you out a lot when you decide to sell it.

Yeah, thats cool. Thanks everyone. I'll just have to check out the local muffler shops and see who does good work. Maybe order something from Kteller and have someone weld it up? Thanks everyone.

When I bought the car, it had a dynomax muffler with custom piping, but its leaking real bad, and beginning to get rusty. I took it off to clean it, and noticed it has huge bottlenecks where the catalytic convertor was welded in. Maybe I'll have someone clean it up for me.
