I was thinkin about buying an alarm off the net and installin it myself. I was wonderin is it really that hard to wire up?

I would ask you ....

1-Do you know anything about car alarms?
2-Do you know anything about car wiring?
3-Have you done any wiring in your car?
4-Do you have a soldering gun?
5-Do you know how to solder?
6-Do you have a multimeter or DVM and know how to use it?
7-How about other tools, do you have 7,8,10 mm sockets and open/closed end wrench's how about a drill or screw-gun and other tools for working under the dash of your car?

If the answer is no to 2 or more of the questions above, I would say you will have a hard time installing the alarm properly.

The other thing to think about is warranty, what kind of warranty are you going to get on the alarm that you buy on line? And because you install the alarm yourself, there will be no install warranty, and how will installing it yourself effect any warranty you may get on the alarm?

What I am trying to find out here is what is your time worth if something goes wrong with the alarm, and how much down time are you prepared to live with if you need to send the alarm in for warranty repair, [if you have any warranty]

Sometimes, the money you think you save by getting something cheap on line. and doing the job yourself, turns out not to be as good a deal as it first seems.

You get what you pay for.
