i just finished putting a JDM h22a in my car from hmotorsonline.

it has this really annoying and loud noise coming from the head. i put a screwdriver on the valve cover on top of each pair of intake and exhaust valves and it seems like the noise is coming from cylinder 4 on the intake side.

it might just need a valve adjustment but i figured id ask you guys before i go to work tomorrow and have someone do it for me.

VTEC hits just fine (although i dont do it often just in case this problem is worse than just a valve adjustment lol)

that does sound like it needs a valve adjustment. i would do that and see if it makes a difference.

 

try valve adjustment...then go from there.

 

damnit i hate valve adjustments b/c it has to be dead cold for it to be right. meaning ill prolly have to leave it overnight at work

prolly going to do a compression check tomorrow and if thats ok then ill get someone to do a valve adjustment wednesday morning.

and if i have a bent valve do you think hmotors would send me a new head if i sent this one back?

HMO is a great company...
We have imported couple engines from them to Europe. No complaints...

 

was the water pump replaced before you swapped in the motor?

 

now im having the same problem... seems to of gotten louder throughout today. just swapped in a h22 from hmotorsonline. replaced the water pump when i swapped in the new motor... going to get a valve adjustment soon and hopefully that will take care of the problem... ugh... just seems to be something new everyday with this damn car

 

i fixed my problem a while ago.

im going to go ahead and tell what my problem was b/c now that its over with i can look back and laugh when i put my cam seals in i never tightened the cam gear bolts thank goodness for the T-belt cover b/c it stopped the botls from backing all the way out
