Default just bought a b16a crx!!

anyway, the motor is in great shape.. and i got him down to 2500 from 3100, the motor has 50k, intake exhaust headers full suspesion and new tires came with my 88 HF as well.. anyway, the problems are: one busted axle (150bucks), the horn doesnt work (about 100), and theres a little damage to the front head light. i have to get these fixed and i dont really have the tools to do it. my friends suggest i should go to a mechanic for everything, do you think they will charge a lot for labor for making the horn work and fixing the axle? i dont mind spending 600 as thast how much i bargained the guy down to get the car. do you think i can get all these fixed for less than 600 from a professional dude? or should i seek local help?

You can get an axle for $50 with a core swap, meaning buy one for $100, return the core and get a $50 credit.

If the horn doesn't work then just check the fuse, or pull the center off the steering wheel to see if one of the 2 wires is disconnected.

Or drive down here, give me $600, I'll fix it and throw in a free car wash.

hey man!! thanks for the help, that really makes me a lot happier about the core. would i get the credit of 50 dollars done at a mechanics workshop, or is this an online special? and also, how much do mechanics charge to replace axles? because i did a search and found out how to do it, the only problem is i dont have the tools to do it. anyway, i checked the horn.. the original owner just cut the wires off, so i wold probably have to get that done professionally, especially since theres not too much info on how to work on horns lol. anyway, whats a rough estimate of fixing this all at a professional place? and do they have axles? or do i buy them online and give them to him?

axle is an easy fix to do at home dude. you need a 17mm socket, 17mm wrench,(for the strut bolt and nut, and also for the lower ball joint castle nut) 32mm axle socket, pickle fork( to break the ball joint from the lower arm) and needle nose pliers (to pull the cottor pin from the lower balljoint). Once thats dont just swing the hub out of the way and use the same pickle fork to pry the inner cv joint from the trans or intermediate shaft and it'll fall out. If you dont have the tools you can rent them from auto zone or a rental store. As for the horn, just run a radio shack push button switch to activate it (tryin to save you money dude), thats how mine is and works fine. Dont pay people to do that kind of stuff for you man, if your gonna spend 600 bucks to get it fixed somewere... why not spend 50 bucks buying the tools and manual that you need? that will work more in your favor in the long run anyways

Mr. Sinister follow that on the shaft replacement, you will need a long bar for torque to break the hub bolt loose.

On the horn, just take the center off the steering wheel, and reconnect the wires.

The CV shaft core swap is good at any parts store that I know of

DO NOT USE A PICKLE FORK!!!!!
Sorry I posted that in all caps for a reason. WHen you have the wheel off and the castle nut at the bottom off, down on the end of the lower control arm, were the ball joint goes through, you will see a little flat nub. That is there so you can use a sledge and hit it to get the ball joint out of the lower control arm. When you use a pickle fork you rip the boot, cause the greese to come out, ruining the ball joint.

SHorter version: take off caste nut, take sledge and smack the nub 5-10 times. Pull knuckle out of lower control arm. It is actually easier than a pickle fork and you do not rip boots.
