My Name is Scott, and I'm a Trackoholic
As I sat planning my weekend (the last before the first event of '02), I started looking around my house and realized how afflicted I really am. No wonder my mother thinks I've gone completely batpoo.
My Garage...
Is a disaster. Tools everywhere. 3 sets of wheels/tires. A mostly, but not completely, assembled Integra race car. And a Miata with a dead battery (can't find time for the "meeotter" right now).
And lots and lots of aluminum dust and shavings.
My Kitchen...
A pile of parts invoices on the counter (the UPS man and I are now buddies). ECHC decals cover the kitchen table along with the yet to be installed transponder in the corner. And lots of oily, dirty footprints leading in from the garage.
My Living Room...
Mostly sane except for the complete Integra nosepiece in the corner (don't ask).
My Spare Bedroom...
Full of Integra interior pieces. Anybody need any Integra interior pieces?
My Office...
Well... Nevermind. I wouldn't know where to start.
With the exception of the kitchen and master bathroom, the house hasn't been cleaned in about a month. Since recovering from my lower back injury all spare time has been devoted to getting the car finished up.
Oh yeah, I'm single. If you didn't already figure that out.
My girlfriend is a racer, so she understands (but is probably glad she doesn't live here).
The neighbors just plain stay away from me. I'm pretty sure they think I'm insane.
Scott, who will hopefully have a completed car by Sunday afternoon, and who really needs to do some laundry.

While chatting with someone at lunch today, this guy who drives a M Roadster VERY well... he mentioned one year he did 54 track days in a calendar year. Boy that's average of 1 day a week on track. What a true *****! No wonder he's fast.

My wife encourages me to go racing. I get too cranky when I don't.

Well, as long as you don't use wheels for chairs and engine blocks for footrests...
Does single mean not married these days?

I think we have you beat! We = Crack Monkey + Lt. Dan + the other two.
Maybe we can get all our mothers together to form a support group.
Three full sets of tools in 4 full tool chests (one set is truely a mechanics set). At least 5 sets of wheels (plus another set in the driveway). Two 12a longblocks. And the complete suspesion off two RX-7s. Lots of shavings, dust, spills. No room for cars.
Pretty much the same. Dan's fiance insists on cleaning, so you might have us beat in sheer dirt factor.
Misc car parts. Dirty rags. Greasy shoes. And footprints. Lots of magazines. Several model cars that Dan assembled (and his cat quickly disassembled).
We don't have a spare.
Yup, same here. Except it's used by four people, three of whom are car guys.
Yup, same.
My ex-girlfriend looked at me funny when I picked her up in a 1982 RX-7 with a rollcage. The relationship lasted another 3 weeks.
Dan has a fiance. I dunno why she bothers.
Same here. The three partially assembled RX-7s in the driveway doesn't help. And the partaily assembled Galant. And the dented up Escort. And the rusty CRX. The only pretty car is the WRX (which sadly, belongs to Joe, who doesn't even autocross).

I forgot to mention the rollcage on the back porch, the engine hoist on the front porch, and the attic full of CRX body panels.
Let's have a contest. Everybody bring pics of their house to VIR.
Does length of time a place looks like that count?
Snow White
indicating that Grumpy and the rest of the dwarf family may have a long standing severe problem
2 camaros
2 hondas
2 trailers
1 fully race prepared car apart
1 suburban tow vehicle
1 S10 - pace car
1 camper - livign quaters
1 tire rack to hold 16 tires
miscellaneous assorted and sundry items that caused the neighbor to put up a fence
Oh 65 Wildcat convertable apart in car port
Garage full of Honda, Buick and Toyota parts
I could add more

At least i'll be picking that up in a few weeks (not that it helps the situation.........)

I think you've got me beat...but not by much.
Garage: 73 MGB on left side behind workbench. Currently its only purpose in life is a place to put tools and Integra parts so I don't step on them. Between the MG and the workbench (which has an oil-filled distributor and a valve cover on it) is my rollcage.
Kitchen: here's where I usually find tools that I've "lost." I'm losing patience so now when I lose a tool I drive the 10 minutes to Lowe's and get a replacement. Invariably I find it when I get home...usually in the kitchen, or worse, in my pocket.
On the counter sit many catalogs, magazines, and invoices (though not as many as yours...yet). Also my wallet (empty except for credit cards), my checkbook (made of rubber) and the new SCCA Platinum Plus card that came a couple days ago. Isn't that ironic.
Front yard: the front yard I spent a good bit of time and money fixing up this fall is now obscured by a car trailer.
Spare bedroom: The closet is actually full of my Integra's interior. All the still-not-unpacked crap that I'd put in the closet (I've only been in this house 6 months remember) is now all over the floor in there.
Office: Mostly busted computer parts, along with my Integra driver's seat. Probaly some tools here too.
Living room: Kirkey seat dead center. I have watched TV - more than once - while sitting in the Kirkey. Which is on the floor.
Master: clean. Laundry hamper is full of the jeans that I've ruined with grease, oil, spray paint and probably some spilled
I too am single, only I'm really single. As in all my friend's girlfriends/wives (except Renee, r2x and whitney's wife) think I'm out of my mind.

Additionally there are at least 70 tires
A garage full parts and part boxes
Probably 10 brake changes worth of pads and shoes
And the list still goes on.........

No Karl, you have me beat. I can imagine you at Lowes (multiple times) buying a 12mm socket all the while having a 12mm socket in your pocket (hey, I'm a poet!).
I too have lost tools, but I haven't found them yet. I figure they'll show up when I'm cleaning the garage in the post winter car rebuild era.
Anybody seen sockets that are octagonal? So they don't roll...
And the outside of my house looks great. Otherwise the Homeowners Association would put a lien on me.
Inside is a whole different story.
What takes oil stains out of light (very light) beige carpet?
PS - Karl. Renee loves your silly ***. SHE isn't really sure why.

after reading this list i don't feel as bad. i've only done 3 HPDE's so i'm still in the fledgling state, but i'm also in an apartment so i have alot less room for all my stuff.
when you open the door there are the two big boxes my track rims were shipped in, you must then over the floor jack to enter the apartment. on/under my coffee table are : 2 ratchet sets, two sets of jackstands, a torque wrench, a breaker bar, a BFH, a C clamp, wheelchocks, 3 sets of brake pads, a toolbox full ofcrap, an oil filter wrench,a set of track rotors, an air tank, and various fluids.
there's a closet right next to the door i could throw some of the stuff in, but what's the point when i know i'll have to drag it back out again?

They usually show up around Turn-3 or 4 the first session of the year.... after they fall out from under the dash, the seat, etc.

My garage is a complete disaster. After reading this thread, I'm going to go clean it.
It contains 2 race cars, 1 race worthy, one retired to civilian transport (but still has the roll bar and harness in it...just in case) I have 4 shevels/cabinets that just have an enormous amout of chit in them (various and sundry stock parts, oil, filters, etc) and one table with head-rebuild remnants. I currently have 4 sets of wheels in the garage (not including the 2 sets ON the cars) I have an unknown quantity under the house with lots of loose tires. In the attic I have 2 exhaust systems and an OE Sentra header. My stock supension is in a box, somewhere, I think.
We really have a problem...

Holy Geez... shame on you, Scottie, for starting this thread. It makes me wonder how much $$$ I used to have that I could have put into my hybrid... err hybrids.
2 cars w/out engines, 1 packed w/ all its parts & aftermarket schtuff
1 that barely runs that still hasnt been washed since Nov & STILL has the #'s on it from VIR on the 8 & 9 of Dec
1 14 X 10 shed full of stuff
1 8 X 10 shed full of stuff
1 back room full of stuff
4 sets of tires/rims
1 set of race rims w/out tires
About 4 Honda engines laying around waiting on a decent machine shop (none found around here) I mention .0002 & they look at me like Im crazy.
1 Sr20det complete swap sitting in the corner
I could build up all these cars & make most of them run 12's, but I could only make one car ready for Road racing out of most of the stuff I have laying around my house.
Pete

Oh geez... getting me started now...
A built 289 in the garage, ready to drop in a car, never fired.
A built 350 in the garage, ready to drop in a car, never fired.
A spare head and shortblock for my CRX.
Also in the garage: wheels, tires, engines and support equipment for fielding 3 road race 2-stroke karts. Random sets of wheels for various cars. Two spare front bumpers for my CRX.All the stock intake and exhaust bits from an '85 CRX. 1 1/2 tool sets, full library of engine and car repair manuals.
In my car: My travel tool set, one box, 97 lbs. of tools, Repair manual.
In the yard: A '91 GMC jimmy tow vehicle, a '82 CJ7 jeep, a '92 Ford Festiva that might get hybrid treatment in the near future, my CRX. Also there's the 6'X6'X8' race trailer that holds the 3 karts, the trailer tool set, 2 spare engines, 4 spare tire sets, and one extra nose piece. [did I forget to mention all the kart stuff in the garage is back-up back-ups?]
In the back yard: A 12X16' shed full of honda and chevy parts. A honda trail bike in the middle of re-build is in there, an old elgin outboard engine, massive amounts of amatuer radio stuff, 6 professional quality BMX bikes built from parts, and enough R/C racing stuff to keep a [big] kid happy for eternity. Also in the back yard is a '78 Chevy Big 10 truck with a built 350 in it, bed full of jeep body parts [including original metal hood], mudding tires, and pontiac engine parts. And a Tow dolly that will probly be put to use toting the CRX to autocrosses and lapping days in a year or so. There's also a full tool set in the shed.
Down at the shop: We have a '80 shuttle bus that is our new tow vehicle, built 460 ford w/ headers, holley pro-jection system, and header exhaust. We also just acquired two MGB GT's, one for parts, one to rebuild, both are at the shop. The one to rebuild is going to be a performance grocery getter, built to my mom's specs. [runs in the family
] And two full professional tool sets [including BA, BS, and Whitworth sizes].
It's also not uncommon for my family to eat dinner in the living room because something is being rebuilt on the kitchen table.
The computer room is free of engine parts, but holds 2 computers, a TV, sewing machine and many, many web print-outs of wild engine setups and comments by nay-sayers to be proved wrong.

My WRX trunk is currently holding:
1 floor jack
1 torque wrench
1 full ratchet set
toolbox with full wrench set, 2 channel-locks
1 four way lug wrench
1 pair mechanix gloves
1 box of surgical gloves
stock muffler
1 bottle glass cleaner
1 roll painters tape
1 garden sprayer
1 pair G-Force driving shoes
1 pair Nike cheap pit/driving shoes
1 G-Force helmet
My dorm room is currently home to these:
Yes, that is under my bed.
They look a little less bizarre being transported via cart out of the room when they are covered like this:
Heheh, people think I am a bit of a weird cookie around here.

Dorm Room?
Race Rubber?
WRX?
Sorry... Doesn't compute for me.
I drove an '80 Oldsmobile Cutlass (with a terminal electrical glitch) and lived off Ramen noodles and bologna sandwiches when I was in college. Used to skip lunch on Thursday and Friday to help finance weekend beer purchase.
"Motorsport Activity" was getting laid in the back of aforementioned Cutlass.
I really miss those days. Really.

Some folks here have it worse than me. Here's a friend of mine from NY. You'll get to meet him if you go to the NASA weekend. He totally lives in the sticks. I thought I was going to hear a banjo playing when I first saw his place.
Enough cars to open a used car lot, lots of bikes, mostly Ducatis
2 big 1 ton vans, one of them a diesel
1 large enclosed trailer, 1 open trailer, 1 tow dolly
gorgeous vintage racer '65 mustang
ITB golf
ice racer golf
spec racer ford
seperate garage which holds like 4 cars, and an attic which hides bikes and assorted parts
9000 lb lift
stingray (I think) vette
other cars that I can't even remember, like beat up old VW's rotting away somewhere
and to round out the force, an Audi A4 as the daily beater
Charlie Greenhouse has it bad too. Look for the 50's something firetruck tow vehicle at the enduro. He's running a couple spec racer renaults. Yeah... that's right, hasn't even been updated to a spec racer ford.
