looking for a "STACK-like" cluster
I was wondering if anyone has ever seen a "STACK-like" cluster. What i mean by this is something where you can have one display, but show multiple meters. water temp, oil temp, egt, a/f, rev, speed etc...but i was looking for a design simliar to the HKS camp system i would say, but in a "dash top unit" like the apexi meters (vafc, sfac etc). I saw something JUST like this in a skyline...and i remember asking around for a long time, but no one knew what it was.
they do...kind of. from what i understand, that main unit has to be used in conjunction with a "hub" which all the sensors run into. No problem. But the last time i looked @ it, i thought you had to daisy chain the sensor, to the guage, then from the gauge to the multifunction display. anyone know for sure? cuz i remember seeing the word "daisy chain" more than once. if this isn't the case, this is exactly what i'm looking for.
i check it out actually..it looks like in every wiring diagram method, you have to use the gauges. To me this is just stupid. Whats the point of having a multifunction display if you have to use all those damn cluster gauges. That's what i want, less cluster...
ugh...sorry for the triple post...
but from their site<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Defi-Link Display »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">
Defi-Link Display is a multipurpose monitor which provides information on speed, oil temperature, water temperature, oil pressure, fuel pressure, and exhaust temperature by connecting to the Defi-Link Control Unit II or the Defi-Link Control Unit(end of sale).
Defi-Link Display can be connected to Defi-Link Meters and Defi-Link Meter BFs by using the DAISY CHAIN wiring system.</TD></TR></TABLE>
so it says that it can be connected directly, but every diagram is of it in the daisy chain setup. i guess i'll just have to call them.

I think either spoon or mugen has a gauge cluster for the S2k. Don't know if this is what you want though....
You might be able to get a triple stack and make it work with the s and make a custom thingy to set it were the stock cluster would go.

spoon does but i don't think it is sold anymore. only like 3 were sold or something

not a gauge cluster replacement...i'm not looking for those because they are SUPER expensive, and i'd be paying for a lot of features i dont need.

i wouldn't even consider paying more than 1000 for everything. I mean...yikes.
But anyways, i would really love to get something like this just so i can safely monitor how my car is doing when i'm pushing it hard during the summer (heat) and on the track. I've always hated the idea of a-pillar clusters and gauge pods, they're just tacky looking, and just help to clutter the cockpit IMO. But i do love the stock cluster now (even though i preferred the look of analoge gauges (rpm and speedo) when i first got the car, shame...shame on me

hey can't the Game Boy sp be used for an instrament read out? this might be what you need as immature as it sounds...
i remember seeing this done before, but i forget what it can moniter...

i've seen that actually...i remember someone was developing a program to run on the sp. I forget who though...

that'd be great if it did more than two bits of useful information. Apexi should make a unit that is installed w/ sensors. "The i-Moni offers real time data display of up to four different parameters including: Engine RPM, Water Temperature, Intake Air Temperature, and Vehicle Speed". From those the only useful ones would be water and intake temp (i have my stock already).

Ok...nishant, the defi unit looks like its the best bet. I called up tein usa (distributer for the americas), and i talked to someone from tech. he said that you CAN use just the display, and the control unit, but you would then need to buy all the sensors individually...which would be perfect.
"Real-time digital information includes speed, oil temperature, water temperature, oil pressure, fuel pressure and exhaust temperature. Sensor sets need to be purchased separately to display the information on pressures and temperatures"
i'm just wondering if you can do more than just those 6. Because it says you can daisy chain 7 gauges to the control unit.

we should talk about this display. i am highly interested
