civic ecu nightmare... please help
what im trying to do is put a d16y8 head on a d16y7 block. when it comes to the ecu i originally had a p2e that was with the d16y7 motor. now since i got the y8 head i had to get a p2e obd 2 ecu. there are 4 plugs that go into the ecu say each wire is its own number. on my old p2e ecu i would plug in plugs 1,2, and 3. now on the p2p ecu wires 1,2, and 3 dont fit exactly the same as the p2e ecu. i would plug in plugs 1,2, and 4. when i try to start my car up it keeps turning but doesnt start. any tips on how i can get my car running. i am confused cuz my friend said that my 99 dx is obd2 and the p2p ecu and y8 head i bought are obd2 also. any help would be greatly appreciatted. thanks
This might help. Compare your ecu's with the top two pictured here: http://www.hondata.com/techecuid.html
eh thanks man. the one im running now is the obd2b. and the one i bought is obd2. do you know what year civics have a vtec obd2b ecu? cuz i have a vtec head to put on my d16y7 block.
thanks man... since im a noob im on my last post. so if i put the vtec head on and run the p2e non vtec ecu, will it still run good? probably the only problem is that vtec will not engage. well just let me know what you think, but i cant write back. keep posting if you find out different stuff. thanks for the help.

Your car will run like **** most likely. It will run lean because the ecu was not designed for the y8 head. It will run, but not how you would like it to. Find yourself the proper ecu which is most likely a 99-00 obd2b p2p ecu from what you've told me. They are like 60 bucks. You also have to change out the intake manifold and throttle body to a 5-spd d16y8 intake manifold and throttle body. If you use your stock wiring harness then you have to do a 3-wire to 2-wire iacv conversion. You also need a 1-wire knock sensor from an obd2 block such as the d16y8. Just stating these things just in case you haven't already done it. I am running the exact same setup you are trying to acheive.
