Default 85.5 GSR block

ok heres my problem.... i had my pistons installed
previous pistons were 85 mm and new ones are 85.5 mm
the machinist told me he had to hone out 20 over...
im not sure if thats right or wrong.. but im guess he should have
honed out some more... well im just wondering if there is a
necessary clearance betwen the piston wall and the cylinder wall
got some pics... let me know if you guys think they are too close
oh and beware... these pics are huge!! and... blurry

There is no way in Hell someone can guess your piston to wall clearance looking at pics.
BTW 0.02" = 0.508mm.

first of all you measure piston-wall clearance at the piston skirt. not from the top of the piston. You are trying to get someone to "see" if your clearance is within spec for those pistons. also what hp do you plan on making? theses all depend on piston-wall...

i just wanted people opinions on whether the pistons were too close to the wall...
as for what kind of hp im aiming for... im looking for 220-230 hp

This is impossible to do from looking at a picture. Get yourself a Helms, a good caliper, and take some measurements. Otherwise you might be sorry later down the road.

are specs for forged pistons and cast pistons the same? its hard to measure w/ a caliper...maybe feeler gauges? but anyhow im still gonna call him monday to double check

Again, get a Helms and READ. You might even learn a thing or two. And no, you cannot use a feeler gauge.

You are in trouble if you are assembling the motor. You use a bore gauge to measure the bore, then a mic or caliper to measure the piston. Subtract the piston diameter from the bore diameter to find piston to wall clearance. Get professional help.
