Default Flow charts of my DIY head from RLZ!

Some of you may have seen my other post about me porting my head. Heres a link to it in case you missed it https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1265902. Well Brad was nice enough to let me come down there and put it on his Flowbench for no charge earlier today. Let me say...it was awesome to see it done in person. I had no idea that thing was so damn loud...but i guess that has alot to do with my port job. Im still learning though.

Overall i was impressed with what it did. Brad did a calculation and said that i only took off .020 worth of material. Which isnt alot at all. So maybe if i took off a little more material in certain spots(that he recommended) and got a good valve job i could see much better gains. Anyway...here is the chart comparing it to a stock head that he did a valve job and blended the bowl area on. Keep in mind that my head has a stock valve job...well see some soon comparing it to mine with a valve job

I dont think it turned out that bad for a DIY port job with a dremel tool and grinding stones . With proper equipment and a little more practice i hope to be able to produce some nice headwork. OK maybe i need alot more practice

Thanks to Brad at RLZ...he did this for no other reason than to help someone out that was looking to get into the game. There arent alot of people out there that wouldve done it. Hes in it for the love of the sport, which is awesome IMO. to RLZ

Looks like a valve job by Brad is better than DIY porting
Curious to see if the chart will look better once you get a valve job.

Yea that was the point of me posting it up. To show just how important a valve job is for flow. I think once i get it done the head will flow much better. And keep in mind that this is an LS head...with porting and a valve job it still wont flow as well as a vtec most likely. But im thinking it will be a nice improvement over stock and will allow the cams to do alot more

I have something good in store ... The valve job on the other head posted was very basic.. I ran some numbers last night with the new valve job I designed

Im thinking we can pull 250 out of our asses if were lucky

If we could get it to flow 250cfms id have a heart attack. Thats would be so much higher than my goals .

Is there any way you could calculate how the flow numbers would affect power? Im sure youd have to have other dimensions such as lift/duration on the cams, bore/stroke, compression ratio, etc. but id just like to see how much of a gain i can expect

Also...does anyone know what a stock b16 head flows? I just wanted it to compare the two.

I read that a stock LS head flows 206cfm. I havent seen a flow chart but i read it 2 different places. I dont know how acurate it is but im sorta having a hard time believing that our portjob gained 22cfm. If it did then itll make me feel pretty good

was that pr4 head off a b18a? if so i am pretty sure youd be better off with a b20 or b18b head. the intake ports are bigger...

Yea its off a b18a. I coulda gotten a b18b head but this one was free so i decided to go with it . Besides...ive always liked trying to do alot with something that isnt supposed to do that much. Which is why i swapped an LS in there in the first place
