Default Exhaust Question that has nothing to do with the normal "which exhaust" threads

Yes I searched 7 pages before posting this

The flex pipe portion of my exhaust is leaking on top. I just ordered this.

All the bolts on the converter end are really rusty. The header end bolts are clean. Are the three nuts on the forward part of the converter on studs, or are they actual bolts that I'll need to have a wrench on each end to break loose? The reason I ask is the heat shield on the converter hides the converter side of the flang so I can see if there is a bolt head on that side. The side facing the flex pipe (forward part of the converter) has nuts on them. They look really bad. Might take the universal wrench (torch) to get them off.
Also, do the fore and aft flange gaskets need to be replaced every time you replace a piece of pipe or are they solid metal rings.

the bolts from the cat to the midpipe are studs...not sure about from the downpipe to the cat, but i beleive that they are spring loaded bolts, and if so, then they are seperate.....even if its really rusted, just use alot of PB Blaster or WD40, and go slowly....the bolt on the top of the cat is hard to get at, and generally if your using a ratchet, theres only enough room for 1 click of the ratchet before you knock into the heat shield.....
