is the skunk 2 shifter a good quality item?
YES!
I have one in my car and it's really awesome..it's really good quality unlike the shitty ones you can buy off ebay for like $6 that will break if you shift too hard. It's worth the extra money IMO.

I have had the shifter in my car for about 2 years now and I love it. The **** has a gun metal paint that rubs off.

I've got the dual bend short shifter and shift ****. Never any issues with mine -- I think it's great.

Some kits lower the steering **** itself, does the Skunk? I'd hate that, because I have to move my hand farther from the steering wheel to shift, and it's already a strech to reach 5th with a harness on.
Anyway, mis-shifts are a few millimeters closer than before. No one likes mis shifts.

I took my skunk 2 out, didn't like it. The geometry just wasn't right, I could tell when I was installing it that I wasn't going to like it. I'm back to stock now, and love it. The kid I sold it to loved it though on his civic (...until his car was stolen...)
Just installed some ES bushings yesterday(finally! It'd been sitting in my closet for a month). I must say, worth every penny. The best/cheapest ratio mod. (~$12). If you haven't done it, DO IT! The hardest part--round bushing-- it was a bizzzatch to get in. Make sure you've got plenty of lube...
