Had trouble starting in the morning
Hi all
I had trouble getting the car to start this morning. It was 7:15am, I started the car, and was letting it idle and warm up. After about 20-25 seconds it just died. After that I tried starting it, the engine would turn, but it wouldn't start. After trying for about 15 minutes I gave up coz I had to get to work.
I got home in the afternoon and tried to start it again. It took a couple of tries, but finally started. I let it run for a couple of minutes, and then shut it down. Had to go in the apartment to drop some stuff off. When I came back down in 15 minutes and tried to start it again, it gave me more trouble. Eventually it started, and I took it for a drive to the local dealer. Of course, by the time I got to the dealer it was running smoothly, and starting on command as well, so he didn't have much to say.
Just wondering if anyone else has had any similar problems. Keep in mind that the car is only 11 months old, and has 13600 miles on it.
Thanks

Sounds wierd. Normally on cold mornings I will turn the car just to the energize position (i.e. key position just before starting it) and wait until the check engine light goes off. This means fuel line is pressurized, etc (or so I was told by the dealer) and then start it. Starts a lot smoother.
Your problem however sounds much worse. No idea why it would shut off like that after awhile.
What mods are done to the car?

No Mods at all...
And it isn't really all that cold in san jose, so that shouldn't have been an issue either.
The dealer was as dumbfounded as I was. Says if it happens again I should take it in and leave it there, so they can try and reproduce the problem. If I do that, maybe I'll get a fun loaner to drive around in the meantime

which dealer you called in SJ? I found that Sunnyvale Acura(where I bought my 97) is pretty good at handling compliants or stuff like that! However, one of their machanics pull 5 qts of oil to my R
Back to your question, I guess it may be a bad distributor. If you car is still within warranty, I will call them and bug them to take carre of it.
