will TPS effect vtec?
im throwing a code 7 in my gsr ek, and it is obviously the tps. now when im driving down the road it does not want to hit vtec all the time. and when i am gunning it it goes in and out of vtec when it wants, sometimes it doesnt even want to kick in. really weird. my tps has been bad for a lil while but i had it rigged and i think it finally pooped on me totally. im worried i screwed something else up. any info is appreciated
ok i think that solves the problem cause the tps is kinda broken but i glued it on and maybe it still gets kind of a connection and thats why it cuts in and out. thats ounds fair and ill get one asap. im just slacking, thanks for the quick replies

I think it is half throttle for vtec to engage.

I have thrown a TPS code and it does affect vtec as well.

I did still did work, but it was in and out of vtec during vtec range.

Throttle position doesn't matter to the ECU for the VTEC to engage... As far as I know there are only four conditions that must be met (aside from any codes showing up and not letting it engage cause it's in limp mode)...
1.> Enough oil pressure
2.> Coolant temperature
3.> Engine RPM (obviously)
4.> Engine load (meaning enough MAP sensor reading)
With the Hondata S200... I can adjust the VTEC engagement RPM and the level of load that must be present before the VTEC engages. I think right now the load is 750mB.

vtec requires (for a D16Z6)
4800 rpms
vehicle speed of 13mph in a manual and 3mph in an automatic
engine coolant temperature of above 140F (60C)

If im not mistaken the ECU goes into limp mode when you are throwing a CEL so VTEC doesnt engage when the computer is in limp mode and the car owuld feel slower i suppose still check your TPS sensor its there for a reason and the CEL is also there for a reason you know.
i think it just depends on how far the voltage of the tps is off. When I first put the throttle body on I had a cel and no vtec. I forgot to adjust it, then adjusted it to the right voltage. Now I have a cel again for the voltage but vtec still engages. It just probably isn't as far off as the first time.

damn, i just changed my oil and the vtec runs right through every gear, that is weird, my tps is still messed up but at well it doesnt act like crap when i hit the gas. but anyways will any tps work as long as its 92-95 obd1, my gsr is obd1
