I am wiring in my Alpine IVA C801 in dash CD/TV.
I have a 93 civic SI, and Im trying to figure out which wire connected to my brake pedal is used for the foot brake lead on the TV.
I tried to wire the pac7 in to override the e-brake but I could not get it to power on. So I am just going to wire it through the brake to see if the damn thing works. I could use some quick help if anyone knows about this.

(-) only one wire at the back of the E-brake, under consol] once wired, you step on the brake then set E-brake, once set, you can take your foot off the brake

Yeah ya know I read something about hooking that to a ground wire and it could possibly burn out the alpine somehow. Thanx for the proper info fcm
You can't hurt the HU if you wire the foot brake input lead to ground, [it just won't work] now hooking the E-brakes input, [neg. (-)] to 12v+, that may do damage.
Wire the yellow/black to the foot brake, [green/white, it has power when you step on the brake] the yellow/blue goes to the E-brake, [that connection can be made at the back of the E-brake, at the grounding switch, there is only one wire] once wired, you can now activate the the system so you can see the video portion of the DVD. step on foot brake, and keep stepping on it, pull E-brake, release E-brake, pull and set E-brake, you can now take your foot off the foot brake. the scree should come on.

Actually you can. A customer of mine did this exact thing, burned the alpine screen up, and came back to us saying we tried to bypass it for him and we caused it to smoke. I told him there is no way we are responsible, I personally was one of the two installers doing the install on his beatle... that dash is a bitch. His "boys" tried to ground the footbrake wire, which caused the unit to seriously burn up. Obviously we didn't take any responsibility since we did the install correctly.... so I have personally seen alpine headunits burn up because the footbrake was grounded (maybe an insolated incident... but it has happened none the less)

One more question for you guys.... I think that the long black cable that connects the brain to the headunit is bad. I searched Alpines site and I could not locate it, any idea where the best place to buy it is? Also you guys even have any idea how much it will cost?
They have the cable aswell as other parts you may need at http://www.pacparts.com
