Default clutch trouble...

whats up guys. Last week I changed my clutch master cylinder. Ever since i changed it i have been having some trouble. When i first go out in the morning, my pedal is some what soft. As I drive during the day it stays working fine for some time, but than starts to get hard and grab a little higher. The clutch starts slipping sometimes too, but will also grab occasionally during these periods in the later part of the day. IT will also get to points where it will not grab at all. If i let the car sit for about an hour, it will be fine again.

ITs slipping as if i would need a new clutch, but my clutch was fine until I changed my master cylinder. Anyone know what this could be.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

same thing happened to me.

it sounds like the clutch is not fully disengaging when you release the pedal, causing the clutch to drag and heat up. once it gets heated it will slip, just like youre experiencing. Im also guessing your "grab" point is higher after changing the mc than before.

You can make an adjustment at the clutch master cylinder pushrod where it joins the pedal. There is a locknut you have to loosen, then you can use pliars and adjust the pushrod.

Hope this helps

I would assume that it's something to do with your hydraulic system since it happened after you changed your MC. Check to make sure you installed the MC properly, and also take a look at your SC. Check to make sure you hydraulic lines are okay too, no pinches. If that's good try bleeding the system and refilling it.

I think you need to really truely bleed your entire clutch hydraulic system. and once you are positive you have all the air out adjust the rod behind the pedal.

Think about it this way. you know if you pump brakes you can build pressure and the pedal hieght gets higher same thing for a clutch. but with this it gets to a certain point that the pedal hieght cant get higher so it pushes on the rod and the clutch will not fully engage. then you let the car sit and you are back to low pedal height so everything is good till you build up pressure

so again my advice is to bleed you clutch hydraulic system entirely perfect. like a fluid changing survice so know there is no air in the line. then adjust the rod behind you pedal.

also since why did you change the clutch master cylinder.

well i noticed that the clutch mc was leaking so I changed it. I checked the slave cylinder and that is still fine. I guess Ill just try bleeding it again making sure all of the air is out.

By the way I have an 2000 sh just incase anyone is wondering. Thanks for the help.

A key note to remember when bleeding is to pump the pedal SLOWLY to be sure you don't suck air in during the bleeding process.
