I'm not sure what is wrong with my 1999 Civic EX.

On my way to work today, it was sputtering at low RPMs, but didn't run smoothly till I hit about 5000-6000 RPMs.


Then all of a sudden the engine light code started to flash. I made a U-Turn and barely made it home.

Anyone know what is wrong with my car?


I maintain it regularly, oil changes and major/minor tune ups.

the engine has 1002XX miles on it.

mine did the exact same thing..the cat was stopped up.

it would run..i would try to give it gas and it would die and the check engine light would flash. i would let it sit for a minute start it back up and it would smoke like crazy then it would run ok for a little while.

 

hey, i added engine coolant, and it works fine again.

 

Personally I would find out which code the ECU was throwing even though you don't have the symptoms anymore. It's better to know for sure what's going on with your car, rather than just guessing...
