A pic of a broken part in my tranny!
My old tranny i have for my car i was thinking of fixing. here is the broken part
this is a pic of where the intermediate shaft would go into. the seal is taken out so you can see it better. is that part fixable for cheap? How hard would it be to take apart to fix? thanks alot.

im no tranny expert, i was looking other threads where they take their trannys apart, and it seems it apart of the big ring gear, then on those hondaautomotive sites, it looks like you can get that peice i am talking about. anyone know how to replace them, how difficult would it be?
You'll need to replace your differential. There should be some of them laying around from people who upgraded to limited slip differentials. I ebay-ed mine for cheap when I upgraded my differential to a Quaife. It's kind of a PITA to do the first time, but not too hard if you're mechanically inclined and pay attention to details, especially how the gear assemblies go together. If you can take your tranny out of the car and deliver it to a good shop along with the new differential, then they should be able to swap it out for about $75.

I agree.
It looks like the fracture line extends to the top ear in the picture. It will most likely break as well.
I have an open diff with the 4.40 ring gear from my '97 GSR. PM me if you are interested. I can't tell which transmission you have from the picture.

i drove with that tranny before, i just noticed it when i took the seal out of it. i didnt have any vibration or anything.
Was the broken piece behind the seal?
Replacing the differential is a pain, but it is the proper thing to do. Depending on the transmission, it may be better to get another from the bone yard, provided that it is reasonably cheap.
If that top ear breaks free, it could jam against the remaining ears and rotate. This could do a number of things, such as chew the transmission housing or displace/destroy the axle seal.
