Default Strange noise coming from 05 type s

While on the thruway today had the windows up and a/c on, four people in car. Every so often we would here what sounded like some sort of a hum or loud vibration, almost like a vacuum. Speed was anyone from 55- 80 and it would come an go. There is no loose pieces on vehicle, everything is stock except for a drop in k&n air filter. Any ideas?

does it sound sort of like a high-pitched buzzing, like a circular saw or something?

I think it's your muffler bearing.

Otherwise, could it be the A/C compressor cycling? Every hear it driving alone? Front or back of car? Details would help.

I have found that with just myself in the car it is at speeds of only 80mph or <. I wonder if having extra people in my car had something to do with it at lower speeds? It even does it with the A/C off. But it does sound sort of like a loud buzzing, almost like the sound one makes when they blow over the tip of a beer bottle.....im sure we have all heard that.

Well car is at the shop right now awaiting a new deck lid spoiler due to a paint defect. I also mentioned to the dealer about the "strange noise" and i described when it happened. I told them if the tech takes the car out by himself he probably wont hear anything unless he goes a little faster than 55mph, he asked how fast, and I said a "little bit " faster not wanted to have them say well you shouldnt be going that fast anyways. So we will see.

By the way they gave me an 04 RSX Non Type S, auto.

I'm not sure if this helps, but I had a similar problem, and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. Turns out it had nothing to do with my speed, but my RPM levels. It was the throttle cable at about 3400-4000 RPM the cable would rub the stock strut bar. Maybe that's something you could look into. Good luck.

Well I have my car back, they heard the noise only one time, but said they could not repeat it. So for the mean time they gave me a free moonroof deflector, which i am not a big fan of. They also replaced my deck lid spoiler. So dont know........figure they can never repeat the problem.
