Ok, im posting this for a friend.

He has a Civic hatchback, 1997, cx , w/ the stock d16y7.

This is what he told me: His car, before he changed his clutch (ill get to y he chnaged his clutch in a second) he said is car would make a soft grinding sound when he was engaged, but when he put the clutch in, teh noise would like wine down slowly. So he replaced the clutch, thinking it was that, and nothign changed. He says even after the clutch swap its still getting worse, and he's at teh point where it makes a grindign sound still, but when he's sitting at a stop and goes to put it into 1st, he really has to work it into 1st.

So any help would be greatly appreciated, if you need more info ill try to get some.

EDIT: He says now the clutch make sa wiening noise, not a grinding noise, sry.

 

either the input shaft, mainshaft, or countershaft bearing.

 

Sounds like input shaft bearing... these trannies are known for them.
