Default Need answers quick: OBD0 head in OBD1 car

Yeah well i bought a pr3 b16 head obd0 to slap on my b18b block in a 95 si hatch using a stock p28 ecu. Does the obd1 harness work with all those obd0 sensors, distributor, etc? Like is it plug and play or do I need to do some modifications? Can someone tell me how I can make this work if I need to? Thanks!

Since you are using a P28 ECU you need to be using an OBD1 distributor.

You need to using OBD1 injectors as well, so use your old injectors.

Your intake manifold which has most of your critical sensors attached to it should bolt up to the OBD0 head just fine and retain all the connections as they were before. Likewise for exhaust and O2 sensors.

Finally, just reconnect all the connections on the head as they were before (such as VTEC wires).

Changing the head does not affect which OBD level you function at - you will still need to be at OBD1.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

Thanks man... that helps alot! Also, I was looking at the intake manifold.. where is the map sensor? I dont see it on top of the throttle body. Is it located somewhere else on obd0 throttle body's/intake manifold's? Oh yeah, one more thing.. they dont have distributor jumpers that go from OBD1 to OBD0 like this http://www.rywire.com/021dizzy.shtml ? That would save me alot of money of they did.

On my '90 EF the map sensor is located on the firewall towards the passenger side, just above the fuel filter. I would think that you would probably have the same setup on a '95 Si.

I thought you said the map sensor was NOT on top of the throttle body?

To my knowledge as long as you wire it up right it doesn't matter where it located. The firewall has been the default location for the map sensor on a lot of the obd0 cars that I've seen (including the two that I own). Thats about all the input I could give you though.

no.. i mean on the b16 head, the map sensor isnt on top of the throttle body but with the b18b that im slapping it on in the car right now the map sensor is on top of the throttle body. so what im asking is, when i put the head on theres going to be no map sensor since you said with obd0 its on the firewall.. what am i going to do about the map sensor situation then?

could i just buy the obd0 map sensor or could i jus take a obd1 one and take a vacuum line to the nipple on the sensor to a nipple on the throttle body? whats my best option?

I would say keep your existing map sensor and try running that vacuum line from the sensor to the throttle body. There might even be a nipple on the back of the intake manifold for the map sensor, but I think that might be for OBD1 B16A's, not quite sure so don't quote me on that one. In either case, I would hookup your existing map sensor first and just run vacuum lines and see how that works. If all else fails then you can always pickup an OBD0 map sensor.
