Thinking about picking up the Flag from Wes and doing an Expo in the South. Next year some time, maybe not even an Expo....but a track event for those that would like to bring their R's and Honda's out for some fun in South Carolina.

Wanted to get some feelings about this idea first!
Pigpicking for Food and Track food, Burnout contest, Trackevent, One Hotel and Camping free, Track is Good (3 time driver), 1 or 2 day event.
Fireworks are legal in SC!
P.S. not a joke and would like to see this happen, thanks for your input.

Would defianlty have to have the dates of both the actual Expo and the expo 5.7 before desiding but I would be interested.
I guess it would also depend on where Expo 6 is to begin with.

nice cosworth, but i don't think you would roll me in the CRX
.
Would like to hear more input peeps!!!!!!!!
Dates would be Summer 2006 and this could be Expo 6, just want to get peoples feelings about Southeast Expo and Who would go. This track is very cheap to rent so track HPDE's would be cheap. I am calling to get info this weekend and also getting dates, times, ex. I talked this over with a couple of We-Todds. Need to include the fact that :
Charlotte is 35 miles away!
P1 is 25 miles from track!
Town is small, would just be the group from the track....
Please more input would help.
Thanks again

Let me add 3 cents, keep the change.
1) Keep it in the southwest, because..... people in the Midwest are getting their itch for "one more event" in about October!!! At least, I am. Weather is still OK then.
2) Make it a nice track, worth a drive (RAtl?)
3) Let's invade someone else's event instead of creating additional liability and financial burden for a half-expo. We can still have a mini banquet, and maybe a block of parking spots at the event, but probably no sponsors, etc.
I suggest:
VIR Full, Chin Motorsports, Dec 11/12
Road Atlanta, PeachtreeBMWCCA Oct 7-9
Road Atlanta, Peachtree PCA, Oct 29-30 (if club permits...)
Shenandoah, Nov 11-13, Carguys
CMS, any club (ex. Oct 21-23, Potomac PCA?)
Something along these lines.
Did you have something else in mind? If you manage to get 30 people, that doesn't cut it for a weekend track rental.
Keep in mind, I did make it to Expo, I have made it to Mid-O and VIR in the last year, but I can only say I'm 50/50 for a track that is 15 hours away.
I wonder if any other midwesterners would come out?
EXPO SCHFIVE HEIF!

Any chance you could do it in Spring? Summer in SC can be beastly hot and humid...

February would be good. If we get snowed out, we sit around, eat, drink and drink some more
What IS the track rental rate? Is it lower in spring I suppose?

You have to call them for track rates, and I plan to do so in the morning. The spring would be the best time for it, since it wouldn't be excessively hot and humid. Mid summer is really brutal there, and I would not recommend it for a track event at that time of year.

You (or whoever is looking into tracks) need to be careful when comparing rental rates. You are correct that it can vary with the time of year as well as the day of the week. Some tracks give you seven hours of green track, others give you nine or more. Some tracks give you an all-inclusive daily rate, while others give you a daily rate but you have to pay extra for corner workers, gate guards, PA system, ambulance, tow truck, etc. Right now one club is negotiating to rent a track where they even charge extra for the paddock (the parking area for the cars participating in the event). Make sure that any cost comparison is "apples to apples"...

You know I'm down! It's about 2 hours from my house so I have no excuse.
I would be down for more spring (May-ish) time so we don't roast on the track. Just let me know where and when. Also let me know if you need a hand with scheduling and coordinating.

Speaking from the soon-to-be-Ex-student position, in the smack-dab middle of any semester (think mid-January to late May), next to no students will be available for such a trip unless they're local. I missed Expo '05 for that reason. Just something to think about. Now that that's been said, I personally don't care as I will be a graduate
