h23 tranny in h22

i'm about to do it.
i have read that the 1-2 shift falls out of vtec but the rest are a go.
gas mileage also doesnt increase much (bummer) but i'm sure cruising at 80 or so is a little easier on the motor.

i'm running an h23 tranny and h22 motor. I kinda wish i had a higher 2nd gear and a longer 5th. you can tell the h23 tranny is a little more torque dependent because on hot days my car accelerates like **** unless i rev it to 4000 or above.
if you have the money aim for a nice jdm one with lsd that has a shorter 2nd and longer 5th. can't remember the name of it but it's expensive.
oh, and btw, shifting from 1st to 2nd you WILL fall out of vtec unless you rev to 8000(more like 7700 in real rpm), lower the vtec engagement point by engine management, or get smaller tire/wheel combo.

i just swapped my h23 to a jdm h22 and im still using the h23 tranny and i hate it!!! and yes, unless you rev 1st to over 8000, you will fall out of vtec. is 350 a good price for an h23 tranny? cuz im lookin to sell mine to get an h22 but i have no idea how much theyre worth...
if the miles on the h23 tranny are good and it doesn't have grinds, then yes, it's a decent price. those h23 trannies aren't in very high demand so ppl don't ask much for them. h22 trannies however are sometimes ridiculously priced if you ask me. the ratios are damn close to the same for double the price at certain places.

or you can buy a sh transmission for very cheap, open that transmission take the gears and put them in an h23.

nop is the same gear ratio as the base h22

I am doing my conversion with a h23 tranny in anticipation for the turbo build up. hopefully going to put the power down better than the h22 tranny. also considering adding a phantam slip lsd with the swap.
just FYI, you will do better falling out of vtec and re-entering it at the stock crossover than you will setting it at a lower point, unless you're modded and tuned to do so. honda put it at 4800 for a reason (and yes, it's 4800, it just looks like 5200 because the tach is inaccurate).
Also, from what I've heard, that honda helical LSD that comes in the m2b4 JDM trannies is nothing special. You're better off installing a quaife.
