D15B VTEC swap problem HELP!!!!
i recently swaped a jdm d15b vtec into my car. i bought the motor from a legit place and the motor is still good. so me and my mechanic put this motor in to my knowing correct. all the hoses all the sensors matched up with the harness. but now when i try to start it up for the first time it cranks but its not turning on. it sounds like it wants to turn on but somethings not working properly. i replaced the spark plugs, dizzy rotor/cap, changed all the fluids, but yet it wont come on. i also did the timing correct. im using the stock timing belt that came with the engine. i dont know if its a fuel problem or an electrical. even pumped hella gas into it. my mechanic flaked on me and wont pick up his phone. so im stuck trying to start my dead beat hatch. Can anyone just throw out some possible problems u may see common or any info would be koo!
Are you getting spark? Are you getting fuel? I mean check these things first... if you dont think your getting spark. Unplug a spark plug and lay it on something that is grounded... and check... Check your grounds too
yea all the grounds are in and i am getting spark. but the fuel part im not too sure. my dad is trying to find that out rite now. he had but a voltmeter up to the fuel injection thingy and said that its putting out enough volts. but im not sure if thats the problem

What car is this going into? When the key is turned does the CEL come on and "click" off so you know the fuel pump is priming.
the motors going into a 95 civic hatch Dx. yea the cel clicks sometimes when i turn it. its so close from being finished. im starting to diagnosis slowly but im starting to think it has to do with the Distributor. Anyone know any oem dizzy or watever kind of dizzy would work for this motor? or any common distributor problems?

u can only use a obd1 vtec dizzy for a d-series. make sure the fuel pump primes then if it doesnt check fuses and then lines. If you not getting spark check your firing order and if still no spark change the ignitor. Then if your getting spark and fuel check your compresssion in each cylinder. other than that if everythig is hooked up it should run
what cels are you getting if at all.
are you using the cars stock harness or the harness that came with the engine?
You should use the harness that came in your car orignally.
if you have spark, it must obviously be fuel or timing. Just check those for now.

hold on. why would u do timing on a motor that came out of a running car then use the same timing belt. thats like taking apart a perfectly good motor then putting it back together and saying its correct when it was correct to begin with because it came out running
good luck. i always start with the 3 necessities: air, fuel, spark. compression helps too, but just tonight while trying to start up a JDM B16 swap in a 2000 civic SI, we came across an empty fuel tank, thus the source of our problems. try adding a gallon of fuel to the tank and seeing what difference it makes.

ha ha or you could be ghetto take the guts out of your dx dizzy and swap them into you d15 dizzy, if you look all the internal part numbers are the same and it runs just fine.
With the key in an on you can pull the ecu fuse and put it back in, you'll hear a slight whine from the fuel pump when you put it back in.

or you can just use your dx dizzy..... make sure the keyway goes in correctly, not 180* off.... if not that, it could possibly be your main relay...
-try a known good ecu
-try a known good dizzy
-got any CEL's?
-firing order is 1, 3, 4, 2...
....1 3....
....4 2....
four is closest to dizzy, one is next to timing belt.......

if u check for spark and its a go, then your distibutor should check out, because the spark is getting to the plug. i can check if u got fuel by taking off the fuel pressure regulator from the rail and see is gas leaks out. since your injectors are fine, maybe the fuel isnt even getting to the rails so it has nothing to dump in.
my problem with my d15b was just 1 wire from the back of the dizzy. it slips out and should be soldered, once im not lazy. make sure all wores are snugged in there.
