Default how much for second gear syncro's?

i just went and asked how much a second gear syncro was at the dealer and the dude told me 250 bucks

now i just did a search on here, and people are buying carbon coated 1-5 complete syncro sets for 225 from top gear so i think this dude messed up

my buddies trans is messing up and he needs a second gear syncro, how much should just the parts be? and im guessing len could get me the best price?

thanks alot for any help

and also are itr syncros and 99 si syncros the same thing? cuz i work for honda and maybe could get a deal if they are the same thing

yes they are the same synchro set as b16 and gsr...dual cone second. since you work @ honda then just get the set for the b16 hydro. don't get just the brass ring cuz more than likely you will need the sleeve and possibly the hub. buy the whole 1/2 set and do it right.

I bought my complete syncro set from Gearspeed.com and I am very happy with the price, service and parts.

If I recall correctly it was $275 shipped for all of them.

honda does not sell synchros by itself...

the price of 250 you were quoted includes the gear set also

I just redid my whole tranny with Gear Speed syncros. The whole set was 275 bucks, not bad, and they work like a charm. Gear Speed makes good stuff.

The reason why there so cheap is because they only come with the syncros.

you get the synchro rings

more often than not, it is the sleeve or hub that needs to be replaced.

so with the gearspeed setup, i get syncros for 1 threw 5

whould we need anything else other then what they send, cuz gearspeed sounds like they way to go

if its just popping out of gear, then its the syncro's, right? and does the gearspeed kit come with everything needed to fix that problem? also gonna put in gm syncromesh

and is this somthing i can do, me and my friends are pretty knowledgeably, i just helped a friend completly tear down his motor and replace and bunch of parts and put it back together

thanks alot guys

you should call gearspeed and they will tell you what their kits come with and suggest to you what you need to replace.

The best thing to do is get it torn down. Examine all your parts and determine whether or not if you need a sleeve set or just a synchro. If it is the sleeve set then you can use 99-00 civic Si as replacement since you have easy access to honda parts. The sleeve set is comprised of a sleeve, hub and two synchros for the gears they correspond to. If your feeling confident...go for it

Thank you guys for your recommendations
