The machine shop flow tested my head during a recent valve job. The results were around 280cfm each cylinder.

Is good, bad, or mean anything?

 

If your head is basically stock, that is pretty normal.

 

The head is suppose to be ported and polished.

 

If you didn't spend a buttload of cash and your head is flowing 280 and is rather even throughout the cylinders, I'd be happy.
*Basically Stock has multiple meanings, bad choice of term I used there, .

 

I didn't pay too much, just wondering what I would get if I paid somebody a grand to do it.

 

cfm #'s mean nothing if you don't know the pressure settings. For example you could put in a extremely high pressure setting and get 800 cfm but that means nothing toward real world power. A grand is quite a bit for headwork which should include the whole package. Portflow is around $8-900, and the same with Alaniz...
