how about just going to the hardware store and buying a cheap replacement instead of getting raped at the dealership?
Oh, absolutely!!! Why should you bother going to the dealership and paying them the OUTRAGEOUS amount of $1.25? Why, I'll bet you could get one for only half that price at the hardware store! Of course, it might not fit exactly - so you might have to take it back to the hardware store and maybe see if they could special-order you the exact one. But at least you wouldn't be paying a fortune of $1.25 at the dealership! Those dealers are really crooks! Why, it probably costs them $.75 for that part - of course, they also pay their people maybe $5 or $10 to process the transaction for you - but still, it's HIGHWAY ROBBERY to charge that much for a part!

i hardly consider that nut's price something they "rape" you on.

It's a 26tpi 3/8" nut. You can get one right away from a hardware store if the dealership has to order one.
