Default Passing Smog Check after 5spd->auto swap, using OBD2 auto ECU...

I have a 5th gen and I'm doing a 5spd swap and was wondering if I used my auto OBD2 ECU (w/ immobilizer), will it pass smog? Or do I have to get a 5spd OBD2 ECU that is the same year for my car? And will an OBD1 (w/ harness) pass? Thanks for the help

why not, when you perform a swap but continue to use the auto ecu the only cell you get is p0700 if you still got the TMC connected (which mean that the TCM cannot receive feedback from the auto transmission) but if not you get cell p01655 (which mean the ecu cannot communicate with the TMC) I do not see why it will fail smog but you can always remove the check engine bulb before getting the smog.

He'll fail the moment they do the OBDII scan if there is a CEL. You can't just remove the CEL bulb.

You need to convert your auto ECU to a manual ECU, it requires moving 1 jumper on the motherboard from one position to another. The jumper is a very tiny 0k ohm chip resistor, so if you are not proficient in soldering small electronics, you'll need to have it done.

So the only difference between a 5speed ecu and an auto ecu is the location of that chip?

That is correct. I can't remember offhand what jumper it is, but I believe it's been posted here before, you can try doing a search. Or you can search/ask over at http://www.pgmfi.org they will know.
