*If* you got a Spoon header...would you put in on your ITR or hybrid?
I'm getting a used Spoon header in a couple weeks. I'm trying to decide what car to mount it on.
My ITR has basically been reverted to stock minus a few things (HP Plus front pads, heavy duty Ford brake fluid, K&N filter w/ homemade ghetto CAI, Mazda Millenia wheels, Scroth harness). I've decided that after the Expo, I won't be modding the ITR too much anyway, but I have always wanted a nice header for it. After the Expo '02 I don't plan to get on the roadcourse with my ITR very much anymore...if ever.
My hybrid (see sig) right now just has an AEM CAI, Thermal exhaust, and a DC 4-2-1 header (POS). I think the DC is really restricting top end...but I'm not completely sure on this. I plan to keep modding my hybrid and race it. Not serious racing (yet), but who knows.
I'm also posting this in the Hybrid forum to get more opinions on both sides.

One thing I'm worried about is that the Spoon sits lower than a lot of headers, right?
I will need to get a diff suspension on the hatch as well if that's the case. The H&R Race Springs make my car LOW.

ummm question.....if you're not going to drive the crap out of your Type R why even have one? You're wishy washy on both counts (R and hatchcrap). Get a spine man! Ditch the hatchcrap and use the R as it was intended. If theft is a concern - sell the Type R and build a proper sleeper worth being proud of.
Well, My Spoon header is on my R but,
rodney has his on his hybrid. I'd contact him if you wanna know more. His car is lowered as well and if he's careful he doesn't hit it at all. His car is a road legal car that is designed for Auto-X and track use. Check it out: http://www.b18c5.com/hybrid.htm
As for me, I'd put it on the hybrid if I had your choices and keep the R as stock as possible.
Good luck,
A.

I agree with Nate. Don't get the spoon. There are many good reasons why you should get the mugen header.

Thanks. My ITR has some good racing mileage actually...it only has 10k, but you can bet that a good part of those miles were from AutoX and some roadcourse.
It's not practical to race my ITR anymore. If I slam a wall or something...I don't have the $$ like some of you to recover from that. If I roll the hybrid, IT CAN BE REPLACED.

Thanks.

Sounds like you don't like the header on either car.
Then just get two headers.

I wish I could afford a lot, but I can't. One header for one car right now. I don't have bank account like some of the other ITR owners here.

YD: I know the hatchcrap is more fun than the R anyways, so just put it on the hatchcrap and be done with it
For sure the spoon header is going to sit lower than your DC because DC has the 4-2 split alot earlier.
spoon header is pretty much like any other 4-1 in terms of dent/scratch potential.
Whichever car you put it on, just drive with good care and you'll be fine.

Todd, are you still planning to get the mugen lowdown kit and race tires for your R before the expo? I've been looking to ride in or drive an R with the lowdown kit, but Wes sold his R before I had a chance. Heck, if you get the mugen lowdown kit, then you should get a mugen header and mugen exhaust, and you'll have an answer to EP's car here in the midwest. Yeah good parts aren't cheap, and none of us midwest folk are filthy rich, but we find a way to get the best for our R's.
So he "enjoys" the header. why else?

Todd you shouldn't bottom out unless you drop down over 1.5inches on avg and don't drive like guy from F&F on the regular roads. If you get sus. get something stiff as your R's or slightly better and you should never bottom out.
If you ever want Mugen for the ITR let me know I got both 4-2-1 and 4-1's in stock

Todd,
Put the header on your ITR. If you drive the Civic everyday, the odds are much greater of it being damaged on your R than on the Civic. If it gets damaged on the track, so be it. But if you dent it going into the driveway of a supermarket while going to buy milk, you'll be kicking yourself for denting it.
