frankenstein motor

Default frankenstein motor

i have a d16 vtech out of a 92-95 civic si and i want to put the head from a d15 on the d16 bottom end because i dont have a computer that can compensate the vtech would there be any advantages of using the d15 head on the d16 bottom end and would the frankenstein engine work

just buy a new ecu, theyre like 75 bucks, and there would be no advantages

So, you want to make a non vtec 1.6 using a D15XX head, and a D16Z6 block? Why? Like the guy above said, get a P28 ECU and use the D16Z6 as it is.

Why?

Cheaper and easier to get a P28 and use the Z6 as it is with 30+/- more HP than your "frankenstein" would have.

You could probably rechip your ecu to use vtec, (not vtech FYI). There was a thread yesterday with a guy comparing the d16z6 p28 to the d15 saying the only differences were the lack of resistors on the d15 ecu. Said you could probably do it for $10 if you have a soldering iron, if not it would be about $30.
