Default Time it takes to do a mini-me swap

How long would it take to do a mini-me swap with all tools and parts on hand? more than 3 hours?

I did my mini me at a buddies garage with all the tools needed. Took us about 5 hrs, but we ran into a few snags here and there. Didn't get the knock sensor wired in because I didn't have one and had to drive the car to work late in limp mode

I know its too late to ask since all my parts are being shipped to me right now, but was the swap worth it for the extra 25HP and VTEC?

The swap will help, but the two biggest helpers to get you from a DX platform to an EX level is the intake manifold and the EX tranny. Get those 2 things for sure, and you'll be golden.

If you like it when its done. It was worth it. My swap took me waaaaaay to long. But now that I know exactly how to do it. I could get it done in a day.

It took me a couple of days because I had to change my intake manifold and ECU as well (I have a D15B2 on a 93 hatch, European specs). I had to run a total of 10 wires. I finally got mine running right 2 weeks after I got everything installed, that's because I have a turbo also, and that complicates things more. No dyno numbers yet, but according to my butt dyno, this thing is powerfu with only 10 psi of boostl. It pulls so hard, I'm scared it will blow up since my bottom is stock, just ARP connecting rod bolts.

Anyway, plan on spending a whole day on this project, that's if you don't find out that you need a part at 7 pm, when most parts stores are closed, then it will probably take 1 and a half day.

I couldnt get mine off with an impact wrench either. I had to use a breaker bar. Hold on to the front of the car(maybe the bottom of radiator support or somehwere on the frame) with your hands and push the tip of the breaker bar with your foot. Just make sure the car is secure on jackstands, better yet use tires under the car and jackstands.

Definitely. Those things can make a HUGE difference.

Yeah, I put a y8 IM on my y7 and could tell the car pulled more at high RPMs, cause the y7 IM sucked ***. The IM on that head looks pretty bad too, the runners arent equal shape/length entirely and the plenum is tiny. that from a d15b2 head or something? look into the y8 Intake Manifold, its the best of all the D series with its huge plenum and short, fat runners.

btw, this head will be running higher compression due to the deck having to be shaved 23 thousandths and I am using a y8 2 layer gasket. so my CR will be around 11:1. And i have the EX tranny already.

This swap is worth it, I did it on my brothers 91 crx with a d16a6 block and sohc vtec zc head... its very fun to drive and from a roll and go it keeps up with my b18a1 in my 93 hatch VERY well... but he also has a stage 2 cam and a few other goodies.. just doesnt have the torque from the line like my good ol b series
