check engine light, 95 civic vx
So I took it to the local chop shop and they said it's not ODB-II and they can't do jack without doing a 'manual diagnostics'. Isn't there a way you can get it to throw the code through the check engine light itself?
I think it is an emissions related issue but I'd just like to be sure and I don't really want to pay some jackass to jump a pin and read a code 80.00 / hr.
Thanks in advance
Nicholas

Also I never realized but I only get like 38 mpg city/ 32 highway and i guess the epa rating is 47/55. on occasion I get maybe 40 or 41 mpg though strangely my fuel mileage is consistently better driving around town then on the freeway. Is there any simple things I can do to restore fuel mileage?
So I found out how to check the codes through a little bit more online searching and apparently my car is throwing code 48 which is lean air sensor. I guess that explains my poor fuel mileage, what's the next step?
read the sticky - https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1171263
code 48 = LAF = Primary O2 on the VX.
Steps,
Buy a new one, replace old one, reset ECU.

Thanks for the advice, I read through the helm manual and it says that an intermittent cel light for an LAF sensor isn't necessarily a bad sensor, and I should check the wiring connections, which I suppose I'll do tomorrow when there is light out. However, I looked up the part on 'hondaautomotiveparts.com' and they state the list price as 420.00 US and sell it for 350.00 US? Can I get a better deal elsewhere. Do I need to buy honda parts? Where should I shop? Thanks
