Solo II question (dont have my rulebook handy)...
For SCCA street prepared classes, what exactly can be done to the interior of the car?
1. Can a race seat be installed (like a Momo Rookie)?
2. Can the passenger seat be removed?
3. Can the rear seats be removed?
I think I remmeber reading that cars prepared for SCCA IT road racing are permitted with their gutted interiors, but what about cars NOT prepared to IT specs.
TIA!

From the SP rules.
"Any fully padded and upholstered front seat may be used. This does not permit the substitution of a passengers seat with a child or miniature seat of any type. Any substituted passengers seat must be sufficiently large and strong to be capable of adequately accommodating an adult, such that it could be used as the driver's seat. The OEM seat belts may be removed to facilitate the installation of alternate restraints complying with safety requirements."
There is nothing in the rules about removing the back seat. Since anything not specifically premitted is forbidden, you can't remove them.

i believe somewhere it states that the car must be comletely loaded inside. since the car must be a "4" seater to be in sts, then it must keep all the seats inside. i thought there was no lightening of the cars in that class, unless you move to street prepared.

What about carpeting like in the trunk and inside the car? I always see gutted out CRX SI's in CSP. By gutted out I mean, no carpeting on the floor and trunk, just bear metal, and sometimes no door paneling! My local clubs let a lot of things slide which is not right IMO.

If they're letting people run CSP without interior trim, then they are not following the rules... simple as that... If you prep for IT however, it has to be FULLY prepped to IT specs... you can't pick and choose between the two... I believe I read that you're allowed to remove the seat in Street mod.. not sure if that applies to STS however...

The rulebook is strictly followed at Divisional and National events. It is a guide only for local events. Regions are free to change the rules as they see fit.
Yes, some rules are overlooked with the goal of including everybody in a reasonable way. If the illegal car starts to win every weekend, then consider having a discussion with the local event coordinator and the other driver or lodging a protest. Just don't be confrontational, as usually the offending driver doesn't realize he is illegal, or doesn't care enough to change the car.
