Default I'm about to buy some CHROME Mazda Millenia wheels...

Anyone know how hard it is to take the chrome off, or if that's even possible? Should I rock it with the chrome? I'm getting them at a real good price, so if they'll work out for my track wheels, that'd be awesome.

Shouldn't be too bad using paint stripper. Worst case just sand and repaint with your preferred color.

Looks like it's going to be a PITA project. Thanks for the input.

I'd leave the chrome.

As track wheels, the brake dust will probably ensure you lose all your bling-points of the chrome...

The weird thing is, why would someone make the effort to chrome plate millenia wheels... or was it offered as an option ()

I've never seen the 15's in Chrome, but it doesn't mean it wasn't one of those rare factory options that almost nobody bought. I really have no idea.

It was an option. I've actually seen quite a few Millenias around here with 15" chromes. The only concern is how much extra the "chromes" weigh.

Ha ha! Yeah, I know. But they're only $90, so I might as well pick them up.

In that case, yes indeed. I'd rock them chrome and later have them sprayed with a couple of coats of transparent black paint.

I would leave it chrome. If nothing else, it should be easier to clean brake dust off of chromed wheels than painted ones, right?

You know the Mazda hub diameter is smaller than Honda's right?

Good luck getting the rims on the car without some machine work!

I won't need any luck. They're a "bolt on and go." Thanks for the misinfo, though.

Hmmm...that's strange. My friend bought a set of rims from a Protege, and they did not fit onto the Honda hub.

I seen another set for sale on clubsi that was bored out to fit Honda hubs.

How are those rims bolt-and-go?

Sorry if I've misinformed!

They're the Millenia rims. Different offset(I believe) than the Protege's.

I'm not talking about offset tho, bro.

I'm talking about the outer diameter of the wheel hub vs. the inner diameter of the rim (hub) bore.

Honda uses a larger hub bore than Mazda.

Honda = 56.1 mm
Mazda = 54.1 mm

Oops. I meant to type "hub size" But search this forum under "millenia" in the archives. Tons of ITR's running Millenia rims.

Thanks for the update. I'll definately keep my eyes out for a set in my area, since I'm the only ITR around, and there's a good handful of these Mazdas around

BTW I'd rock the chrome, so you can blind people as you're going around the track...BLING!
