Default header wrap?

i am considering wrapping my DC header due to some slight cooling problems with my B16 on a stock radiator. is there any downside to wrapping the header?? can it damage the header or any other components?

I remember reading a post awhile back, some people said its not good to wrap ur header because it traps that heat inside ur header or something like that.

well it does keet the heat inside, but it keeps the rest of the motor from getting as hot , and sends most of the header heat out towards the back of the car.. this would lower intake temps etc.. also keep the car from getting as hot since all the header heat isn't blasting on the radiator.. any opinions??

if you live in a dry climate wrap it. makes a huge difference. there are a lot of other things you can do to make it run cooler. lower temp thermostat, run straight distilled water with a bottle of water wetter. remove that rubber strip from the top of your firewall, buy a hood vent from carbon tricks. jegs sells carbon colored wrap if you dont want your header to look like its covered in used toilet paper after a while.

also..i thought this also helps with the scavenging effect of the header?

It traps extra heat in the header, shortening its overall life, an early cracked header. However, hot exhaust gases travel faster than "cool" exhaust gases, so your overall exhaust speed would be increased, so its a power thing, if you dont care about the money thing. I have had my teg header wrapped since 99 and although I havent had it unwrapped, I havent noticed any new noise (leaks)or any thing.
